Roles:
NORMAN MAILER: The famous writer, seen in his 50s, at the height of his influence. Man of physical and intellectual heft. Mailer starts a correspondence with prisoner Jack Henry Abbot, gets him a book deal, and helps get him paroled. But when Jack comes to New York, Mailer is overwhelmed by the actual sadness and squalor of Jack's life, but can't quite follow through on his promises to help, and he also gets angry and embarrassed when Jack "humiliates him" by not playing the part of the genius writer in the way Norman would like.
