[ MAC LEVINE ]
Mac is a biracial (half Jewish, half Haitian) curious, sweet, and strong fourteen-year-old girl struggling with high school and moving forward after her father’s death. Growing up with her Jewish mother, who works out of town as a traveling nurse, she’s decided to move in with her grandmother, Mummy, to be closer to her father’s memory and to unpack the events surrounding his death. After moving in, she realizes living with Mummy isn’t what she expected. They butt heads over their grief, Mac wants to know more about her father but Mummy doesn’t want to open the wound. While dealing with her grief, she struggles to understand both of her cultures as a Jewish and Haitian teenager. Feeling overlooked at school and getting in fights, she creates a new public persona that she hopes will ingratiate herself with her peers. Unlike Fritz and Mummy, who are stuck in a cycle of reaction over Simp’s death, Mac has unintentionally begun to turn toward her grief when she literally wears it on her back like armor, embracing the notoriety of being the child of her murdered father. Mac’s desire to fit in at her new school proves disastrous as her peers ridicule her for grieving over her father. She then realizes everyone doesn’t have her best interest at heart and comes to understand family is everything. Mac begins to let her guard down and embrace Mummy. Now when Fritz calls, Mummy is teaching Mac Creole phrases over the holidays, signifying their blossoming relationship. As things begin to look up between the two of them, she has a secret that may hurt Fritz and her grandmother -- she wants to contact her father’s killer....SERIES REGULAR

Simp grew up in Brockton at Mummy’s house and lived there his entire life. Simp supported Fritz in everything he wanted to do in life, including becoming an actor. After Mummy and Papi separate at the top of the Season, Papi is too busy out with friends to even help Mummy with tasks around the house, avoiding her obvious attempts at reconnecting.
