Watching ' Matlida 1996 Movie ! THROW THE WHOLE SCHOOL AWAY!

This film adaptation of a Roald Dahl work tells the story of Matilda Wormwood (Mara Wilson), a gifted girl forced to put up with a crude, distant father (Danny DeVito) and mother (Rhea Perlman). Worse, Agatha Trunchbull (Pam Ferris), the evil principal at Matilda's school, is a terrifyingly strict bully. However, when Matilda realizes she has the power of telekinesis, she begins to defend her friends from Trunchbull's wrath and fight back against her unkind parents.

I love this movie so much! My parents treated me similarly when I was growing up so this is a comfort movie for sure.

You seem well read. I am quite familiar with that study. However, being born and raised in Chicago, I have my own study that I’ve been gathering information on. I’ve been to more funerals for folks who had no discipline at home than ones who got the whooping, learned the lesson and moved on

I highly recommend you look at the research done around the effects of corporal punishment, or repeated physical punishment, on brain development and outcomes in adulthood. The ACE study is an especially good one.

Great selection and great reaction. I will disagree on your stance on the child discipline though. This movie was an extreme example but back in my day when parents did hand out the whoopings, we didn’t have school shootings and all the other mess that goes on today and even the dumbest person in the class knew how to read and write and basic math. Take a good look at things nowadays

This notification immediately took me back to my childhood! I remember having this movie on a VHS tape 📼 that also had The Iron Giant and Jack Frost on it. It also made me want to have telekinesis powers growin up 😅also Miss Trunchbull reminds me of a pg-13 version of Aunt Lydia from handmaids tale
