Homer's dilemma (between being true to himself and pleasing his father) hit me hard. It is not the same thing, but I went through a long part of my life trying to please my mother and suppress my sexuality. I wish my mother would one day come around and see myself for who I truly am. Don't feel bad that you are a "tearful mess"; I cannot get through this movie without crying myself! LOL However, it's not because the movie is sad. This movie is so heartwarming and inspirational to me. I'm so glad to be able to share it with you. Your reaction was beautiful. I loved how you understood the relationship between father and son. It was wonderful to hear your point of view as a parent yourself. And thank you for standing up for "bookworms" everywhere! 😁
