Daily News: what is it worth to you?
Added 2024-11-04 14:10:21 +0000 UTCSo, as I explained in the Patroncast, the amount of work needed for the Daily News show isn't insignificant (about 1h / day of reading through RSS feeds, writing summaries and looking deeper into certain topics, and then about 30 minutes of recording / editing / publishing).
And since some of you don't want these Daily News, I was thinking I could split things into:
First Tier: 1$/month: gives you voting rights on topics + the Patroncast each week
Second Tier: 2$/ month: gives you the same + the daily News show.
I don't want to force a price increase on you though, so I'll only go ahead if the majority of you (and Youtube members) agree on the structure. Let me know what you think!

I'm happy following daily news but is not a must. Weekly updates fill the cup for me. So charge them. Hard work deserves payroll. If Linux just worked this way more often...

The only issue is that you have few options (I think just play/pause and volume) while the phone is locked - but other than that it works just fine. EDIT: Just click the play button in the email, not the "Listen in app" button.

2024-11-07 13:04:46 +0000 UTCI picked the first option which is closer to the truth to me. I do sometimes listen to daily news but usually I can't find the time. But I'm fifty-fifty on whether I'd jump up to a higher tier. After all, it's only $1 a month. I might still just to keep access to the daily /just in case/ a headline goes by I want to check out.

2024-11-07 13:02:51 +0000 UTCYou should have an RSS feed you can add to any podcast client, it's in the "my membership" tab of my Patreon page, at the bootom :) No need to download anything extra, apart from an app able to import a podcast feed, of course!

I wouldn't make the upgrade myself, the coin conversion in my region is currently really harsh (went up today again), and I don't mind listening to the news on a weekly basis instead of daily. But if my finances were better I'd definetly go to the 5$ tier at this point. (Ps: sorry about the deleted comment, missclicked enter in mid-writing 🤦)

2024-11-06 19:53:20 +0000 UTCI listen to the Daily News, as i added patreon to Grayjay so it just show on my feed (maybe not daily, but often). I'm not that much interested about the "daily" part, more about the "news" itself. So for me it doesn't need to be Daily. I work in Poland, the cost of living and income is way lower, it might be the lowest tier but when supporting multiple creators it does add up to quite a sum. But I totally understand that this price point doesn't make sense, especially with Patreon tax.

2024-11-04 21:16:17 +0000 UTCSome of us enjoy the Patroncast, but only subscribe at the Patreon minimum, i.e. US$1, to support your work in general. Removing the $1 option would change that support from money to wishes. Of course offering more and/or different paid tiers - optionally with added value at each - is an easy way to give supporters more options.

I'm not a podcast listener at all but I try to somehow and i like listening to you because I like your personality and how you behalve.

Of course I'm never a huge fan of subscriptions increasing in price, but I am more than happy to pay more for this show than I am for others that I currently pay more for
