I'm not a gamer, but the whole cheat culture and reaction is disturbing. Is there a way to make anti-cheat less intrusive, while making the cost of being caught cheating high enough to deter people? For example, the big developers could agree to prohibit kernel level anti-cheat on all platforms, but make the penalties for being caught much more severe. Maybe they could agree to block caught cheaters across many popular games, not just one. There has to be ways of detecting patterns of abuse without intrusive kernel "hacks", e.g. look for consistent inhuman reaction times, impossible endurance, etc.. I may be completely off-base, given my lack of experience in modern gaming. But a game should not effectively become part of the low level OS!

I understand the endeavour's complexity, but this is taking very long in the tooth!
