Sun Mirages / Mock Mirage

The reason the whole sun capturing thing started was actually to try and capture mirages, like these (same sunset, different moment). They often don't look very exciting unfortunately 😁

Well what I always do to prevent over exposing is under exposing a bit to find the best balance. The 'zebra' function helps with that ;-) And these days I shoot in V-log color mode. The problem with that is that the raw footage will look terrible until you to edit (grade) the footage afterwards. Then I 'pull up' the underexposed part. There's actually a video on here from while back where I go 'extreme mode' to push the dynamic range, perhaps you've seen that. BUT since I think you're not planning on grading it (This can take up a lot of time especially the first times), it is perhaps a better idea to experiment beforehand what works and check if the camera has any 'high dynamic range' mode, and if that mode actually improves the image instead of making it worse..

Hi Posy, I have a question. I intend on going to the North Sea soon for vacation, and I want to take one of my cameras to take some nice video footage around the place. However, I fear I won't nail the exposure quite properly and overexpose the sun and / or underexpose the beach. How exactly do I get both the sun and the beach to be exposed properly?
