By the time you notice the silken tripwire it's too late - the trap is sprung, and the great spider is upon you, dragging you into its burrow.
-----
Initially I'd planned on making a copse draped with webbing, but ultimately, inspiration struck and I decided to make a lair for a trapdoor spider instead. I guess I just really liked the idea of a party member gathering firewood for the campfire, and as they make their way across the clearing, back towards their companions, they step on one of the spider's tripwires, and it attempts to drag them into its lair.
For reference material, I wound up watching videos of trapdoor spiders springing upon their prey - as an arachnophobe, you can probably imagine this was not a pleasant experience.
I've provided additional variants for this one with the trap open and closed (or missing entirely), and with or without the spider. I've also provided the spider's token, with the filter I apply to my maps and without, in case you prefer the unedited versions.
I will likely make a map of a web-ridden cave which could serve as a home to this spider and its brood at some point, but if I do so it will be released as a separate map, as it wasn't part of the map's intended scope and the thought only occurred to me as I was preparing to upload it!

My maps are made with assets from Forgotten Adventures and AoA (bolstered with assets of my own making here and there), and they come with grid/gridless, day/night, edited/unedited, and light/lightless variants, plus JPEGs, WebPs with transparent backgrounds, and UVTT (DD2VTT) files for Foundry VTT.
