A concept animatic loosely based on the old Butterfly mini-comic with little Freckle and Rocky. We never ended up having the time to move forward with it, but I still like how much of a cat Freckle is here.

We recently gave Mordecai's three piece suit design a brush up, with a sleeker look and more comprehensive breakdown. We were feeling like his initial suit design was looking a little too boxy, and animators were struggling a bit to keep him on model.

The back cover art featuring the band has been shared here before, but I figured I'd include it to demonstrate how the front and back look together.
Animation preview! Patrons have seen a lot of these clips already, but we wanted to share a little with everyone who's been waiting patiently over the past while too.
Also, we have an announcement to make this fall, probably in October. It's a big change, but in a pretty exciting way? ...And we hope you'll be happy to hear about it!

"Photo" artwork adorning the walls of the Little Daisy Cafe We've had to produce a ton of art assets and props to fill out the cafe set. It seems like it's required more minute detail work than the Speakeasy itself, even. Many of the wall-hangings are seen only in the background, so they're relatively low detail, but here are some of the more in-focus examples. (A few of them probably look familiar if you've read the comic.)

Just a little update on some outstanding BackerKit stuff we've been working on.
- Viktor has been exceptionally obdurate about becoming a plushie, but we've finally landed on something we're pretty happy with. The coat is kind of a bonus we didn't expect to be possible, but hey, there it is. It's removable and he does have suspenders underneath.

Just a quick peek at some more cats moving around on screen. We'll be releasing a preview out in the wild sometime this spring, but wanted to give you all a first look + some extras just for your eyes for now.
(Don't mind Atlas sipping on that ectoplasm there. Coloration is temporary until the compositors get their hands on it.)

These, uh...these were hard to make.
More specifically, it was difficult to settle on a technique. Just hard enamel wasn't working out the way we anticipated, and the designs had to go through multiple revisions to arrive at an approach we felt would give us a quality pin. Then it was hard to find the right manufacturer. Then it was hard to nail the finalized design to complement the process we settled on - a dimensional UV print with gold plating. A little rough animation by Sam Kessler, Olivia Johnson, and BMBrice.
(You might recognize some of the character designs from the last post.)
Some of the background characters and single-appearance characters we've designed for Season 1. We have to put thought into who fills the busy city streets and speakeasy dancefloors as a matter of visual worldbuilding, but also because we can't leave animators guessing at what to draw. (The middle row of especially beige characters are the most intentionally generic-looking, though, so that we can swap colors around on them to fill in distant spaces when needed.)
