Commissioner wanted a painting to commemorate a kink event experience they had. While prison guards may not exactly be my thing lol they were very happy with what I came up with.

I had a ton of fun making this one! Sketched it mostly on an ipad too which was a different but very rewarding feeling. I think it came out super nice, and it was fun to do an oral-focused piece.

I'm really, really, really happy with how this one came out. It's so dramatic!!!

To cut down on repainting time, I used Levels and Curves adjustment layers to massively change the colour and lighting conditions of the characters.

Also tried to wrap my head around ACES colour management and taking that from my renderer into Photoshop - turns out PS support for it is pretty abysmal, but messing around with some LUTs helped. If anyone's got a good solution for it, please hit me up!!<...

Smokeroom Acrylic - Murdoch, Astronomy tower side

I lost the WIP shots for the Murdoch and props paintings :'c But more interestingly I think, is the process that I did for the bg.

Just like last time, I started by doing a very loose sketch to set the vibe. Using that as a guide, I loosely modelled and rendered it out to to a 3d base, saved it to a 32-bit HDR file and then painted in more colour and much more importantly, TEXTURE!

Then flatten down to 8bit and keep rendering.

Scene 2 Dangpa JRPG sidegame bad ending thing

And this is the 2nd scene, with the two now fully bad-ended. The head on the board is from a little wolf model I quickly sculpted for another painting ages ago and reused. Figured I'd throw that in! I'd like to get back into 3D sculpting again, as well as rigging and texturing furries.

A while ago I got commissioned by Dangpa to create two scenes with alts for his jrpg VN sidegame thing. You lose to an enemy, they do bad things to your team. You get the idea! This one has a little lust demon that possesses the PC's mentor and makes him succumb to his lust 🤐

I've become looser with my painting process and that's been great. But never underestimate just how damn useful a simple value painting is - that way you can figure out your shadow shapes, as well as where you have form contra cast shadows!!

Status update!

Heyo! I hope y'all have had a wonderful xmas and a happy new year. Tbh? I've been quite in the dumps - last year was hard, and winters are always rough for me. It's why I've been slacking in the art department. I've just been getting my shit together.

The good news? I am getting my shit together. Reassessing myself and making some lifestyle changes have proven to be quite positive changes for me, and I am keen to keep trucking on.

I also have quite a backlog of things to post here...

Kinda struggled with this one! Diffuse lighting is always a challenge, and I wasn't 100% sure of what the setting would be when I started painting it. But it didn't come out half bad in the end I think?

This one's a doozy!! I developed a new background workflow and got to try my hands at a first piece of merch, and it was a lot more work than I thought it'd be. I learnt a ton though, and from now on I will definitely stick to a 32-bit workflow for my paintings. I've used it before, but it's quite resource heavy and removes a lot of options you have in 8-bit mode - but there are workarounds.

Got a contract doing some illustrations for a german toy company! Canine dicks isn't something I'm going to start painting regularly, but I'll make an exception for novelty toys.

They wanted a lot of edits! And then an added background, whew. It came out alright in the end.

A good friend of mine commissioned me to daddify their hyena character, giving me creative freedom with it. I'm SOOO happy with what I made here, and I feel like my shading methods are becoming more refined fast!

Whew! Finally gotten unclogged and making art again - sorry for being away for a while! It's been rough!

For this one I tried a couple of new things - emphasising more on blocking in the full palette early on and not worrying so much about sketching, just major colour swathes and major shapes. Also, been making extensive use of the "darken" and "lighten" layer blending modes, since they allow me to lay down colours and values without disrupting what's already down. Photoshop also blends...
