Staring into the Void…

I did this after sending in the book to the printer yesterday… every time I see Floyd as we watch the Muppet Show (we started a leisurely watch through at the beginning of the pandemic) I can’t get over how creepy his lack of eyeballs is… just big, empty eye sockets. Voids, ringed by little feathery tentacles, a negative energy sea anemone. Or two.

Stray Bullet uncut

Hey it’s a double entendre! It’s an exchange between Doug and Jay that was cut, and is now “uncut”, plus is about foreskin. 

This may very well be a retcon, I may have drawn Doug as uncut back in Hard to Swallow, but this detail is important to the larger story and I can change that physical detail from a dozen years ago if‘n I want. Stray Bullet pt.1 additional page sneak peek

Is that rude? Lol.
This page will be the new 24, coming between 23 and the old 24. Part 1 was 27 pages but will now be 28.
I included the panel without word balloons as well to show how sometimes details are obscured, like Doug’s tattoo in this case. I also wanted to show off the composition of this panel which is lessened a bit by the balloons.
I‘ve decided that the 3 extra pages (comic books are printed in page counts that are multiples of 4) will be patron welcome sketches ...

Edging, pt 2

So like I mentioned yesterday, I had accidentally cut a few lines of dialog when I re-worked the last page of part one a few years back that are indispensable, and have to add them back in. After reviewing the story, I think the only way I can do this is to add a page between 23 and 24, and after discussing it with my live-in comic book consultant (thanks, William!) it will work well. Now to bang this out as fast as possible!

Getting so damn close to done!

I’ve fixed a few things on the cover, and added a mast-head for Tannis Comix (the Tannis website is up now, btw, though a work in progress… TannisComix.com), also fixed up the inside front cover to reflect the proper contents (😝). Third here is the editorial page which is all thank yous. The image used is an alternate cover that didn’t quite work for a first issue.

Stray Bullet pg.27 last panel redraw

This last page has been cursed! After some valid criticism of the layout and perspective problems of the original page 27, I had totally redrawn the page… and ended up with different perspective problems LOL. Well here I have redrawn the final panel, hopefully eliminating the problem. I am much happier with this one. This leaves just a few things left to do with the material before getting it to the printer.

Part of why I needed to refer to pages of Loose, the Ghost Train of the Paranormal Transit System makes an appearance. Not pictured in the preview panel is the Conductor who also appears briefly.

The title may change… I have a naming convention I usually follow of using song titles, but I am not finding anything wildly appropriate. And I don’t want to go with Ace of Base, lol.
