February was a month of illustrations, two full color illustrations for the second issue of Stray Bullet, and a welcome sketch that I got too into. Loose part 3 page 1 SNEAK PEEK

Getting back to it!

I’m going to be working on part 3 of Loose while I work on writing other stories on ny plate. I’ve had to create a schedule for myself where I only draw part of the day and the rest I do other things needed like writing, website updating, commissions, kickstarter organizing, etc. This (the rest of Loose) was the easiest thing to write since it’s been pretty well outlined in my notes for a while, and isn’t dialog heavy.

I like the art here. The dialog is a bit weird… a patron mentioned some dislike of it in a dm to me and my response was, yeah. I didn’t write this, I was just hired to do everything else! I made suggestions on some things about the writing, but it wasn’t my passion project, Bryan had the final word. I didn’t want to say too much about dialog because I am certainly not the best at it myself. Glass houses and all that.

Obviously one of my favorite pages.
Some colors for under painting work better than others… the blue here works really well. Other pages that use bright warm colors don’t often work as well. There are pages that are yellow themed that are a bit too garish… others where I tint it towards yellow-green that work much better. Live and you learn.

January roundup/welcome to February

I’m trying a simpler/cleaner layout for the roundups this year! The first month of the year finished up the Sadako fanzine work, saw a sexy video game hunk for a new welcome sketch, a sexy video game hunk for the month’s sticker, last quarter’s sticker set to the printer, and more Velvet Collar pages (some of my favorites).

This is one of my favorites of the book. I did a lot of google street view research for the area, and decided to include scaffolding and construction work as it makes it all look lived in. I also love the use of green (the color I gave to this character) and greys. I love silent storytelling, too.
