Thanks for your support this month! I've drawn more non- drawtober things than I thought I would, partly because of this sketchbook video (and older sketchbooks by them)-link They're so inspiring and freeing, I had a really good time drawing without pressure in between the scarier daily illustrations.

Sorry to split the sequence down the middle! Its actually going to be 18 drawings (starting on Billie in the shop) which would be way too big to post the process all at once! I think I'll share the final images (sans process) on the $1 tier shortly, I realise I'm quite bad at posting stuff from twitter onto here, but I imagine it's nice to see them withou...

Drawtober/daily inks day 1-16

I realised I haven't posted any here for the $1 tier! Here's what I've been working on recently, for those not on twitter. I tried to use a bunch of different styles, to get more comfortable with my inking! I'm working on a really long (18+ images) sequence, that I'll share when I finish too (or see twitter for a day at a time)

I started in 2018, and I'm so happy I'll actually be able to reach the end of my first webcomic, I feel like I got pretty lucky (and...I am very stubborn which helps) Thank you all for your support, especially those who've been here since the start, you're amazing! (There's still a good chunk to go, but the end is in sight haha)

Drawtober process days 5-13 (+high res)

"Two butches could be friends, but never lovers." (Boots of Leather, Slippers of Gold- the History of a Lesbian Community)

They hooked up years ago when Billie was staying in town (before Billie was butch) Bertha carries a flame for her even now, but won't admit it to herself, and Billie doesn't think she still likes her because she's not femme. A hot mess.

With the first sequence, I'm trying to do more hatching and linework, and boy, it was hard! I was so scared to fill the hair ...

Drawtober process days 1-4 (+high res)

Phew...thats a lot of pictures just for 4 finished inks! I've included a lot of my planning and initial sketches, I know it's easy to think people can summon ideas from nowhere, but often there's a heap of mess behind each piece :P.

On the big sketchbook page there's a little Red amongst the Sylvias and Jerrys, that was when I figured out how I wanted to ink the lines- which I started doing from piece 2 onwards. They're more sparing than the 1st piece, where I outline everything. I thin...

Made a fair few changes on this one! I couldn't get the surreal vibes to work, so I opened up the panel and made it more of a moment of clarity. I also feel quite clever putting Marnie in Romans shadow for an obvious metaphor hahaha.

So drawtober, every year I'm like YES I'll do it, and then every year my wrist hurts and I spend too long on things and quit. But this year is different! (its not)

However. I'm gonna try again, with lower expectations, and more planning. (plus monthly visits to an osteopath...)

So for $1 tier folks this means a lot of your stuff will be posted for free (sorry) but to make up for it you'll see all the extra stuff that goes into...

Sketchbook Flip Through

You've all seen the pages scanned in, but I figured I'd share anyway, since seeing a sketchbook as more of an object has a different feeling (to me anyway).

It's been a really melancholy time to have a sketchbook for me to be honest- I miss hanging out and everyone getting their sketchbooks out over coffee, and flipping through each others. At least this way I can kind of share!

I figure Roman admitting that he wants to date Julie is quite world altering, but I'm not 100% on the surreal elements in the background, I'm hoping I can incorporate them into the next page too, and that they'll add to...rather than take away from the moment.
