This scene is quite difficult to colour, because the sun is so strong overhead, I had to darken Julien- with the light behind him, and Jerry a little too, so trying to keep the general skin/hair/clothes ratio is tricky. I've missed drawing sunshine though, its my favourite :P!

I've never drawn Sylvia and Jerry in casual clothes before, they've been in work clothes or dressing gowns, so I had to put more thought into it! I wanted to give Sylvia more traditional clothes, she's mixed white British and Bangladeshi, though she was cut off from her parents once she came out until they were quite old. I think- like with a lot of second gens- she would leave behind that part of her cultural identity until she got older, and then attempt to reconnect again.

The first picture was made on a whim, I saw some ink sketches on brown paper, and wanted to try replicating the feeling in photoshop to see if it would work for a comic style! In particular using white on top of the darker colour, instead of working from light to dark. I shared the first few pages with the $3+$5 tiers, but this one was a little spicy for the lower tier. Here's the rough colours for the whole comic! It's sad reaching the 'flesh zone', as I've heard it called, I had such fun with the colours beforehand! Although it does make it a lot easier to flat :P.

Thanks for all the support, as always! I know it's agonisingly slow having one update a week, especially during such a chill scene. I'm so happy you're all still here! (I know I say something similar every week, but I really am grateful!)
I'll have finished the comic that's eating all my spare time by the end of June, so hopefully I'll be able to boost my page output again by then!
I've never been happier to have spent time making reference sheets for the posters and blankets in this room, it makes it so much easier O-O.

So I realised after looking at my initial concepts that I had forgotten to draw a whole wall...multiple times in the past, so I finally sucked it up and made an...extremely clumsy sketchup model of Julien's room. I did try to make one out of bluetack first, but it wasn't very structurally sound ;).
