The hardest part of making this page was writing it.  I wrote and rewrote and tweaked the dialogue so many times it actually became somewhat of a joke to me.  It was kind of an important page, and I wanted it to be impactful and meaningful.  I wanted it to show a dichotomy of siblings that loved each other and how that conflicted with the kind of distrust that can be caused by a power like Vim.  I also wanted to give the "power" of my world a concrete name, instead of always ...

Shadow Festival 2018

So, for Page 8, I actually didn't have any versions of it that weren't finished.  I guess I must have drawn the whole thing in Sai and just used Photoshop for the text, I dunno.  Anyway, I'm committed to giving my Patrons SOME kind of bonus content each week, so here's a spoiler free sneak preview of what I'm currently working on, Page 23, featuring Max, who isn't featured until the start of Chapter 2.

Edit:  I had some ideas for a last-minute rewrite for the dialogue that makes it a little bit of a stronger page overall, I think.  I'll make the original available if anyone asks.

I wanted to make Kuserra feel more populated, but I'm a pretty slow artist and every character I add to the page adds another several hours worth of work to it.  So... this is sort of the best I could come up with for background stand-ins.  Hopefully in the future I'll be better at it.

As I started to refine my way of doing things, my deprecated versions and my final versions converged, right around this point.  From here on out, I only have one final version of each page, with a few in-progress versions of the same image along the way.

The old dialogue might be interesting to someone though.  In this case, Kiva drops more clues to how Kiera's Vim functions.  I changed it because it's largely nonsensical, even in the proper context.  I also wanted to give...

Website Launched!

The website for God Slayers is now live, thanks to the genius-tier efforts of my wonderful husband.

It's pretty bare at the moment, but comic pages will be posted there in a convenient readable format and I also intend to expand it with some bonus content and a lore page eventually.

Mostly I'm just excited that it's alive!  And it's on schedule!  Awesome.

Where the name God Slayers comes from

So... I just wanted to explain the name of my webcomic.  Of course, after I had settled on the name, I started seeing the same combination of two words everywhere.  I learned of a book series that shares the name, I've seen it pop up repeatedly now in a couple of anime series... So it no longer seems to me like the original name I first thought it was.  And, to be quite honest, I never really liked it that much in the first place.
