Here’s the full process video for my tree studies that I created for this month’s challenge! It’s been sped up to 250%, so a little over twice the original speed. I also made a resource video about my process for creating these studies which I will be posting in a minute - be sure to check that out if you want some commentary and additional info on this process video! I hope you enjoy this one and as always, let me know if you have any questions about this process!

EARLY ACCESS // tree sketches

March has flown by! It's time for me to participate in the monthly challenge for flame members🔥This month we made some tree studies together! This is my take on the challenge. I tried to focus on using expressive and stylized shapes, and it was a lot of fun. I feel like one of these is inspired by the Ori games >_> I am officially obsessed.

If you created artwork for this challe...

EARLY ACCESS // elderly heads

I sat down to finalize the heads that I drew during last week’s live drawing session! Turned out that darkening the background was the key to making these sketches work. It’s always surprising how little tweaks like that can totally change the vibe of a drawing! I’m really happy with how these colors turned out. EARLY ACCESS // sketch sesshion

It was time for my monthly sketch session, so I sat down to draw something I don’t often draw: motorcycles! I found out that I can't really draw circles, HAHA. What a disaster! I need to practice my basic shapes!

I wanted a bit of a grungy race track aesthetic for these. Might add some color to it since I think some yellow accents might really work for these! Hope you like them ~

Hey patrons! I had so much fun during this live drawing session over in the server. Thanks everyone who joined in! Here's the final result of the session:

I'll probably be tweaking it a bit more in the coming days in order to finalize it. For those who weren't there, the chat window is now included in the video, so you can see what I'm talking about and who I'm reacting to! Wa...

PROCESS VIDEO // bathroom (again)

Hey Patrons! I know I posted the bathroom process video a few days ago, but here's another version of it. I usually film a few snippets of my process so that I can edit them into short reels for instagram, but for this one I ended up filming a lot more than I usually do. I figure it might be interesting to share a process ...

PROCESS VIDEO // bathroom

Here’s the process for my bathroom painting! I figured this one would be interesting to share in order to show how I implemented the perspective grid into the painting. I just copy/pasted one from google and transform/warped it to fit the scene I wanted to make!

Some info about this painting process:

  • It’s been sped up to 250%, so a bit over twice the original speed.

QUESTION // patreon video issues

Hey lovely patrons! I know that some of you still have issues with patreon video, specifically with the video freezing and refusing to play beyond a certain point. I've been in communication with them for a while now and they are still working on trying to fix it.

They have once again asked for specific examples, so I wanted to ask you: do you have issues playing the videos here on Patreon? If so, could you let me know which video and which issue you encountered? ...

EARLY ACCESS // bathroom

An interior sketch! I tried using a perspective grid for this one to build the sketch on top of, I feel like that worked pretty well here! Might use this technique more in the future when drawing interiors. I definitely want to keep making more cluttery, domestic type of scenes like this! Hope you like it, have a great weekend lovely patrons  ❤

TUTORIAL // overlapping shapes & foreshortening - subtitled

Here’s the subtitled version of the tutorial on overlapping shapes & foreshortening! Be sure to read the description of the first video post for more information about the tutorial, as well as a cheat sheet that summarizes a lot of the info from the video. Hope you enjoy it ❤

TUTORIAL // overlapping shapes & foreshortening

It’s time for this month’s tutorial! Some of you requested a tutorial on perspective. I am not experienced enough to give tips on two-point perspective or other types that are used for buildings or cityscapes, but I can talk about creating some perspective and depth in character art. I do that by creating overlapping shapes and using some construction tricks to create foreshortening! This tutorial runs you through how I build up shapes to create depth, and how I approach lighting & re...

UPDATE // March is around the corner!

February was so ridiculously short this year. I felt like I had to scramble so hard to get everything done! Those three days apparently really do make a difference. Here's how the past month has gone for me:

MORE TIME IN THE SERVER

This month I spent more time hanging out in the discord server! I did a live drawing session with you all, and also streamed my painting process into the community art room a few times. There was also a figure drawing session orga...

Q&A // February 2023

Hey flame patrons! Here is this month’s Q&A session recording, which turned out to be a whopping 2.5 hours long! I had such a good time though! This time I figured out a way to make the question I'm addressing show while I'm talking, so hopefully that will make it easier to follow and navigate through!

Topics covered in this session are:

  • Decision-making in the creative process
  • Overcoming or preventing injuries from drawing
  • Career: pricing commis...

It’s the end of the month, which means time for me to participate in the monthly challenge for flame members! This month we did skintone studies together. Here's what I came up with! EARLY ACCESS // pose studies

I sat down and finalized the anatomy sketches I started on last week! I did a lot of cutting and pasting to exaggerate the anatomy a bit more, since I felt it was a bit too restrained and small. I wanted a more chunky angular look than I had initially set up. This is a perk of breaking up my process into separate drawing sessions - I always come back with some new perspective! PROCESS VIDEO // live drawing session

As promised, here is the recording of the live drawing session I did in the discord server last week! EARLY ACCESS // sketches

Here’s the results of my monthly ideation sketch session! I’m really enjoying using these sketch sessions to explore ideas and aesthetics. I might be carving a story out of these at some point. I really want to finalize the girl with the huge pants and make her into a more detailed character design, so I’ll probably be doing that soon ~ Hope you like these and have an amazing weekend! ❤

EARLY ACCESS // clouds

Some cloud studies! I always feel like my approach to clouds reflects my artistic confidence. When I’m feeling more unsure, the clouds I draw tend to turn out soft and formless. When I’m feeling more focused and confident, the shapes become more clear and have some exaggeration and gesture to them. I feel less afraid to divert from the reference image. I’ve been in a much better creative flow lately and I think that shows in these studies purely from the more defined shapes in them! For...

UDPATE // anniversary billing now available

Hey patrons! I've decided to turn on anniversary billing for this patreon page. That means that if you sign up today, you'll get billed again on the same day next month, instead of again on the 1st. This is a lot more intuitive and it avoids the issue of patrons getting double charged when they sign up on the last day of the month! It gives patrons a little more control over when they are billed, which is why I decided to implement it.

I will be continuing the same method of delivering ...
