- I haven't posted a WIP in some time so you've been probably wondering what I've been working on this past few days. Well it's a ... beanie ? Yeah, a damn beanie is sucking up all my time ...
- So I played Metro Exodus earlier this year and I liked Anna's character/model/look so I wanted to do something from it at some point in time. Flash forward to a couple of days ago and I decided that maybe now's the best time to do it. Went on some youtube/google reference hunt to find reference...
After much consideration I decided to put this concept up.

Realistically the only thing that caught my eye here is the leather jacket and normally I'd just make that as a single thing, put it out and that'd be that, but since I JUST released a leather top, I decided to let you vote on it rather than repeating myself or make something people are not interested in at the moment.

- Lowpoly game mesh + baked normal maps.
- This was a real pain and time sink to achieve, but I really wanted a fully 3d hood in the model that wasn't reliant on normal maps, which is what this now has.
- Model polycount at 21k tris. This is honestly much more optimized than I thought I could get it considering the double sided hood and the small fold detail in the model.
- Texturing left and this is done. That should take around 1-2 days and game import/testing packaging ...
- finished highpoly model. I think it has enough detail :P
- looking at reference, I realized I forgot to model the hood tightening string thingy ( what's that called btw lol ? ) so added that too.
- this model is pretty complex, making a game mesh out of this is going to be very challenging due to layers overlapping. Not entirely sure how I'm going to approach this to be honest, guess I'll see as I'm doing it.

- Shelved the other wip I had started to finish this first.
- I tried something new for this that was supposed to make it take less time. Unfortunately it backfired horribly and resulted in an unusable model so I had to redo large pieces of this.
- Kinda went off the original concept quite a bit. The model has more volume, asymmetric arms and some different stitching. I will also not be adding the tears in the arm region. It's just way too busy and would just not match that...

- this is ... grueling to work on, if I was to use a single word to describe it. It's extremely slow to model and very challenging to make it look realistic. Kinda lost count on the hours spent, probably pushing 60-70. At this point I would've felt heavy burnout on any other normal project, but somehow, I'm still excited and interested to work on this even at this stage. Maybe because it's such a new thing/experience for me.

- As I said in the previous post, I sacrificed model quality for a faster completion time. The model is quite flat in some areas with only bigger details being part of the topology. Polycount is much lower because of it though, sitting at 5k, so it's a lot more optimized/performance friendly. This is probably more in the ballpark for a current AAA game, rather than what I'd normally do.

- low poly isn't exactly right in a sense for this. The polycount for this is quite significant for what it is thanks to the 4 grenades on it. The grenade low poly model was made to hold up as a standalone item (it's a bit heavy even for that) so duplicating it 4 times as what is supposed to be a small character accessory, definitely isn't the best of ideeas.
