why oh why did I pick such a difficult perspective? I had a vision in the sketch phase, and then I get to the flats, and especially the background, and I'm painting in circles and confusing myself. i find I always want to create a horizon line, I want that depth of perspective, and so when the camera is pointing more towards the ground and flatness it confuses me hahah

Congratulations to the smart people who guessed Astarion! It's finally his turn to have some cozy time.

Due to his story in game I was actually a bit hesitant to draw him. This is an NSFW patreon after all, and Astarion has a complicated relationship with sex. So I want to make this seem both sexy but also super comfortable and safe, you know? We'll see how successful I am with conveying that once it's finished haha.

Heart of the Forge // Dammon!

Alright so those of you who's on my Sinner tier with access to my NSFW work know that I sometimes I accompany a spicy oneshot text with my paintings, as a treat. Nothing serious, just a for funsies. This time, I'm making it available to everyone.

I think I'm finally getting the hang of this. I always use references when I paint, but I find it easier and easier to freestyle and experiment with the male form. One year ago I struggled so much, and it's fantastic to feel more confident.

Really looking forward to showing y'all the SFW version as well. I'm modifying his in-game outfit to be so slutty lmao

I don't know why, but as I was pondering my next project, stupid sexy Dammon just KEPT popping into my head; smiling, wiping a sweaty brow, covered in soot and grease. He was not letting me go. and where inspiration takes me, I must follow.
Astarion and Wyll are gonna have to wait - but I do intend to complete the main crew, so rest assured, they're on the list.

First hurdle of this painting is that, unlike the companions, I cannot undress Dammon at will to peek at what's undernea...

Also see on slide 2; the actual rough sketch. Sometimes my sketches come out near perfect, other times... more blobby. Today was a blob day, initially.
Blame it on the fact that it was done at 1 am on my surface tablet - a nifty little thing but I feel I don't have a lot of control on it compared to my PC. It's almost like my eyes and hands are operating on 70% efficiency when I use it, so I mostly use it to jot ideas down when I want to be comfy.

Finally got that likeness down! Still a fair amount of work left, but I'm pretty happy with the progress and how it's looking. I got a fairly elaborate SFW version cooking (at least more elaborate than my usual "skintight dark-brown pants" sfw hahah) and I'm so excited to show you the finished pieces!

Funny how wildly different a sketch can look with colors. I was looking at this for a while just thinking 'how the heck am I going to tackle this?'
Well, I decided to tackle the background first, making sure the sunny vibes were in place so I can better harmonise him with the environment when I do start painting him.

the hair gods have blessed me this day, his hair just clicked immediately. It's so soft looking dang

It's starting to shape up pretty well, got the colors down, shadowhearts got a face, feeling relatively good about how it's looking. Really going for that warm and soft ethereal vibe, and it's looking promising.

the idea is idea-ing! its already looking a lot better, if we ignore the fact that shadowheart doesnt have a face. still a way to go until its finished, especially considering ill need to make an sfw version as well, but im feeling good about it. these intricate scenes always end up taking much longer than first anticipated so i reckon at least one more update after this before its finished!

I'm not sure why but linework just wasn't line-working with this one, so I'm just gonna wing it and opted for a more sculpt-y workflow, shaping shapes and colors where I feel like it might make sense, and praying it'll turn out fine in the end. which is a brand new workflow for me! I gotta be honest lads, this will either turn out great or absolutely not great. We'll find out.

I did the really rough sketch initially with Hunt and Bryce (gym scene) in mind. But as I kept working on the sketch, it didn't quite feel right for them. (The gym scene also very low key gives me the ick because of how fucking sweaty they both are at that point lmfao). (But I promise, Hunt and Bryce is the highest on my to-draw list. I just need to find the right fit for them.)
