Rogue-Like 4/2 update, home stretch

Just wanted to give you guys a quick heads up, since I've been getting a lot of messages about the new version (0.96). It will be coming out in a few days, I'm working on getting it as complete and polished as I can.

Rogue-Like 3/26 update, more customs

Ok, I just finished something that took a lot longer than I expected, but I still need to test it out. Basically I added two more custom outfit slots, so that you can make new ones without messing up the old ones, and cue different custom outfits during the week. I'm also trying to sort out a "wear a certain outfit while we're alone" thing, but it's more complicated.

More Survey response and raffle?

So apparently the survey is capped out, thanks for all the good feedback guys. for the numbers battle, it looks like adding new characters is very important to people, so I'll focus on getting Kitty rolling soon, and have some plans for our third girl. Adding new sexual interactions is also a big one, so I'll try to get something going with that as well. Clothing and flirtation/dialog were seen as slightly below those two, but still fairly high, so I'll definitely keep on that end as well.

Rogue-Like 03/09

Ok, so here's what I've been working on so far. I've been overhauling the undressing systems to be cleaner and read more naturally. Hopefully you guys will enjoy it too. It's also of course taking into account the new memory systems, so she should respond more naturally to being repeatedly asked to take off things she isn't yet ready to, or just give more flavorful responses to things she's already taken off a few times.

So people were pointing out things like "I asked her to do something, she said no, but then I could just ask her again and again," or even worse, ". . . and I'd get stat raises each time," which is a level of easy grind that isn't really a good idea. Ok, mostly bug fixes in this one, a few small features, and then on to the big "remembers what the past is" overhaul. Out with the old bugs, in with the new, hopefully not too many.

-Fixed some issues with Rogue or other characters not reacting appropriately to her clothing choices. She is now more likely to change into a default outfit when entering leaving an area if she was previous undressed (sorry).

Ok, so here's a little update. 2/9 Rogue-Like Commerce

I wanted to get some feedback on the "economy" of the game, such as it is. Right now, the primary way of earning money is via the stipend you get, and the reason for that is I didn't want an earning system that was too grindy, does this work for you guys? Is it too easy to make money? Too hard? Should there be more methods of changing how much you can earn?

And what about the shopping aspect? It's a bit of a stub right now, there's only the one outfit (though I plan to add some more), a ...

Rogue-Like v0.95

I've just sent version 0.95 to processed patrons, It's mostly tweaks and bug fixes to the previous version. Off the top of my head, here are some changes to expect:

-Added the ability to schedule her clothing choices for the week.

-She should no longer stay permanently drenched after leaving the showers.

-She should no longer appear "invisible" during various events, if you notice a scene where she's talking and nobody is there, please let me know.

02/03 Rogue-Like update, v0.94

Ok, so version 0.94 is now officially out, and links are being sent to all processed Patrons. Thanks again guys, there has been slow but steady growth in the support of this project and it's been a big help. I had some power outages last week, and a trip out of town last weekend that slowed me down a bit, but I managed to wrap up the stat overhaul and put together a working version. ;) So here are the patch notes:

Rogue-Like 1/20 More iteration

Rogue-Like 1/15 What's going on right now

So, I'm still working through the process of the 1000 stat upgrades. The first step was easy, the vast majority of the stats are checked and assigned by a central function, so changing that function instantly "fixed" all those interactions (although we still need to test it to make sure it works as intended). Rogue-Like 1/9: Prepping for 1000 stats

So some good news on the progress. In addition to clearing up various bugs and tweaking how some of the systems are working, I've also added and done basic testing on the new 1000 stat system. So far so good!

Rogue-Like stats and balancing

A lot of people have said that they think it's too easy to max out Rogue's stats, and I don't really disagree with that. I've been trying to figure out the best way to make it a bit more challenging, without making it too "grindy" or potentially impossible to max out.

One simple way would be to go in and remove a lot of the stat-ups that occur during repeatable events, and make most of it go to unique and first time experiences. This can be tricky to balance though, and failing at it,...

Rogue-Like, programming and stuff

I thought it would be fun to briefly discuss programming, and how it's working in Rogue-Like at the moment (and why certain bugs appear). There have been a number of bugs in the more recent build that trace back to a common flaw, and that has to do with control flow. Basically, in Renpy, you call out a section of code by using "labels." If you say "jump" and then a label name, then the game will stop what it's doing and go to that new place.
