Tyre testing - your help please!

Hi all guys and girls. I am starting a big tyre testing series to find the fastest tyre outdoors, similar to bicyclerollingresistance.com but real world testing using the CdA sensor. If CdA is kept constant, then changes in tyres and pressures will show up as a Crr change. I will be doing 28mm and 32mm.

So far I have in mind to source and test:

1. Conti 5k

2. Conti 5k TR

3. Vi...

HYPER D67 Review

Probably my most in depth wheelset review to date (including melting an XTR rotor). Not the final version, need to update the aero graphs but here is the 1st draft of the video! Cheers guys.

Bit of fun this one

But miraculously took the win!

A MTB wheel test (long term)

Genuinely ridiculously good value for these wheels (sub 700). And extremely good durability over the 6 months of horrible weather. Plenty of riding footage in this one. Patreon Early upload. Cheers guys

New course pb...on a 32mm rear tyre.

The haters will love this one. Who would use a 32mm tyre on a TT? Well...the rear aerodynamics are not crucial. The pure rolling drag (in terms of hysteresis) can be the same as a narrower tyre... but look at that road surface. Its the vibration attenuation i was going for - to glide over that chip seal asphalt. I couldn't imagine riding that on 25mm tyres at 100psi, would be like riding through veritable treacle.

And this is how it died!

The gradient is between -20 and -30% but only for 2 mins! Crap.

Another dead xtr rotor in 6 months. Absolute shit.

An example of why I love and hate making YT videos...

So, i waited all week for some nice weather on the weekend after a long work week. Went out to film a long voiceover on a ride (a purposely straight and boring ride to keep wind/traffic to a minimum), only to start editing this evening to find my external mic didn't record (file corrupt) and the audio from the camera is unusable, with no amount of high pass filter being able to fix it! In the bin that one goes, will have to do it all again. Hopefully can find another day soon.

Willkommen!!!

Thank You and welcome to all new, and existing Patrons. You guys and girls, although not always mentioned, make my content feel valued and keep me thinking.

The last post about Paris Roubaix has caused quite stir on my YouTube community feed, so i feel like making a video to expand on my blog post below. I hope you will enjoy that too. Other videos coming soon are;

1. A look at Pogacars bike and setup. Is there something that's different about him...

2. A ca...

Paris - Roubaix overview, tech and blunders.

This blog post may form the base of a new video regarding Paris - Roubaix and the bike tech (lack of).

I believe the brutality of the cobbled classic Paris - Roubaix, at least in the modern age, is only still relevant because of the bike tech, or lack thereof. That said, small iterations of tech and tyre pressure optimisations see race editions getting faster, year on year. This years race averaged 46.8kmh. At what point does this race just become a flat stage? Well, it will stay releva...

Here is the final edit of the remote carbon repair for the Willier ISP. Quite proud of what we achieve here.

Another Nerdy wheel review!

Pre-release for Patrons. A surprisingly good wheelset at a great price-point (799USD) with a custom hub using Enduro bearings. Decent wheels at low prices are becoming a commodity item (to quote Hambini).

Carbon ISP update.

So here is the update of the 'Remotely Lengthen ISP Seatpost Sight Unseen for German Guy I've never met' project. Came out pretty damn good first time, required a bit of sanding amd trimming but it's now on its way to Germany with UPS. The creation of this will go into a bigger YouTube video when he has finished the install his end.

A Blog post and update

Hi all, well I have been busy! I have started a contract of Beta testing with quite a big brand, which means finding time for YouTube, around my work and daily life is hard! But it's getting me riding more and really fit, about time! I am under NDA on it, but I hope to share it with you all in the near future. The riding is all on MTB and requires 10h+ a week.

Secondly I want to share with you a new tshirt design I created, all patrons can get 15% off merch in the peak-torque.com store ...

A bit of fun and pre-cursor to the next video...

I'll be launching some Peak Torque, satirical and creative merch alongside the next video but here is a teaser. I am working on a way to discount all Patrons as a thank you. I have been working quite a lot on these fun designs and getting the quality right from different suppliers. The designs should be on the website very soon!

Cheers

The Peak Tour IS coming (snippet)

This film documents a very special time in my life, and it WILL be coming to Patreon once I have received the major IT upgrade for the huge edit. I have reams of 4k footage that my current banger laptop cannot cope with! There's car work, engineering, travel vlogging, cycling (obviously) and some mischief as I bomb down through France, Switzerland and Italy to make it on time for a wedding in a 51 year old car.
