Texas Frightmare Adventures!

Looking back on this adventure, I wish I took more pictures of where we went BEFORE we went to Texas Frightmare.

We went to a bunch of retro video game stores where my brother had the opportunity to buy some things add to his collection. If you are a old school, new school, any kind of retro love of games fan...let me know. I'll get pictures of his collections to post here. I know he would LOVE to share it with you!

We even visited an oddities shop. It was a first for both of us! ...

KATATONIA - Lilac

I took this suggestion mainly because it was next in line, but the words "Doom/Prog metal" caught my attention. Also, this band is Swedish and I love me a good Swedish band (cough-Ghost-cough).

I LOVE this band's sound. Their use of instrumental interjections and possible hemiola creates a unique listening experience!

BAND-MAID - 2022 US TOUR Documentary, Pt. 2

Welcome back to part 2!

We left off from Dallas and Houston where I wish I knew who the Maids were before 2022...😓

We begin our journey after Texas and go through the their last show in Chicago that ended in happy tears. I was really worried about Kanami towards the end of the tour. She was giving it her all. I hope she got the best rest of her life after that tour.

Girls Band Cry, S.1, Ep. 5 - Rising Vocals

I think I might be confused about why Mamoka left Diamond Dust. Is it because they didn't reach the level of notariety that she was looking for, or was it due to creative differences?

I can understand Nina's anger here. Seeing someone who used to be your friend who ended up treating you poorly as the lead singer of a band that gave you the inspiration to go it on your own.

I am pulling for Momoka and the band...!

Sound! Euphonium, S.1, Ep. 11 - Welcome Back, Audition

I am not going to lie...it's hard to not get annoyed Yuuko. I understand she really wants to support her upperclassmen, Kaori but man...it's hard to watch.

The drama builds so much in the potential love(?) between Reina and Kumiko and the way the audition played out (no pun intended) was not what I was expecting.

浮遊ｽﾙ猫 (Fuyusuru Neko) - “好奇の眼” (Curious Eyes)

There is something about this that felt nostalgic. Anything that reminds me of any of my favorite video game's music sends me back to that time of when I first discovered THAT game.

There are some unique things in here that I enjoyed. The different tone colors between our singers voice here was a big selling point here as well as the bass player's abilities to ornament the musical lines. It may be simple, but there are some cool things to listen to in here!

I live for this kind of talent!

Not only is the a talent, but this is a skill you are born with and then nurtured through years of practice. I also love the use of pure temperment singing. I imagine it would probably be easier to do singing, but I can't be so sure on this.

A good teacher is understanding and will listen to their students even if it is hard at first to hear what they have to say.

While I don't think the students should have used the fact that Reina knew the director previously as an excuse for how the auditions came out, I find it admirable that he decided to hold re-auditions for the solo trumpet spot. He saw that there was an issue and he decided to open the conversation. I love that.

Let’s be vulnerable…!

This is me after a gym session.

It was upper body day, and as I’m doing lay pull-downs I could hear the gym radio play “Otherside” by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Through each rep I thought to myself, “That bass line seems fairly simple. I bet I could do that.”

SAISEIGA - Strange Rain

The death vocals are killer here!

As I have said before in the past, I have a soft spot for bands that only have 3 instrumentalists. SAISEIGA does such a good job of putting out an insane amount of sound.

I honestly believe I could use this band as a meditative guided experience.

I appreciate Subaru's personality. I was a theater kid at one point, but I don't have that forward personality like the true theater peeps.

Steve Vai & Unlucky Morpheus - For the Love of God

This was musical transcendence.

I have never head the opportunity to hear Vai's solo compositions. I have heard him play with Devin Townshend before, but that's it.

I want to know what kind of guitar he was using in the first video. It was gorgeous!

The orchestra version? YES!

Hearing Jill's version was lovely as well. Her ability to simulate the same effects that guitar can do is incredible.
