We moved to the back studio at Storehouse. This is a small room with a big window, which was covered in tracing paper to make the light really soft - these were all shot with natural light. Mostly shot against a black curtain at one end of the room, this is a set of simple art nude images where Zalia shows off her posing range.
Technical: Nikon D700 with NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II lens. Natural light.

Elli is a Ukrainian model living in Melbourne. Continuing from last week’s set, but without being concerned that the sheet covers everything. Again, I am amazed at the variety of feelings Elli brings to these shots, from fun/cheeky to sensual, from aloof to engaging. Some turned out looking like the nude French postcards of the early 1900’s, so I did some “old photo” processing on them.

Lara contacted me for a TFP shoot, saying she wanted to recreate some photos from a magazine. It wasn’t until we got to the shoot that I found the magazine was “(not only) Black+White” - published in Australia from 1992 to 2007 and featuring art nude mostly back and white images, often of celebrities or sports stars. Gotta love surprise nude shoots!
From the deep archives, shot in 2011, but reproce...

Staying on the high key set at Storehouse Studios we had Zalia doing simple nude poses. She did some with her high heels on, then I had her pose with the heels in shot as a prop rather than wearing them. The quip: “It’s amazing how high heels make Zalia’s legs look so long - even when she isn’t wearing them!”
Technical: Nikon D700 with NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II lens. This was shot on the main set at Storehouse, which had an ancient f...

When I was preparing the Cheyanne In The Dunes post I came across this shot from the first time we worked together, at a group shoot at Storehouse Studio in Belgrave (sadly no longer there).
I present it in 3 versions:
Sylph was staying in a flat in St Kilda that had a soft fluffy bed, so I asked her to pose on that in the steampunk corset I bought at a folk festival a few years ago - and of course wearing nothing else. Once again facing the challenge of shooting in a really small space.
Technical: Nikon D850 with NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E lens. Light is from two Godox AD200pro flashes on an AD-B2 twin head bracket pointing into a 72” umbrella - this gives a very soft wrap around ...

Aurora’s high rise flat had floor to ceiling windows, so we carried on the shoot in her bedroom just using natural light (and her bedside lamps). Starting in sheer lingerie and ending up nude.
I admire Aurora’s ability to give emotion and expression.

Happy New Year! After a big new year’s eve party I just want to spend a week in bed - so that will be this week’s theme!
(Zalia fans - don't panic! That series will resume next week.)
Elli is a Ukrainian model living in Melbourne. It took a little while to get coordinated, but we finally did a shoot at the wonderful Tall Dark and Art studio. In this set we had Elli nude in bed, but covered with a sheet. Elli is able to give a variety of feelings to these shots, from pin-up to ...

This was the very end of the shoot at the beach I did with Chey last year, which was almost 10 years after the fist time I shot her. The Sun was setting, the light was dropping and getting quite orange. We had to walk past these dunes on the public path back to the car, so I suggested we do a few shots in the little black dress she was wearing (with her trademark Doc Martens boots). But as anyone who has worked with Cheyanne will tell you, it is somewhat difficult to keep her in her clothes.<...

We were going to start on the balcony of Aurora’s high rise flat, but I could not get the lighting right (I figured it out later, that will be another post) so we moved to the couch in the main room. Her sheer dress was sitting on the top of her suitcase, so I asked her to wear that. The flat was small, so I was using my small space lens (24-70mm) and really portable Godox AD200pro flashes.

Merry Christmas!
I had my bag of random pieces of cloth with me, and so we spent about 15 minutes seeing what we could do with this red sheer cloth on the high key set.
Technical: Nikon D700 with NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II lens. This was shot on the main set at Storehouse, which had an ancient flash set up that was just too bright - can't remember the make and model, but even at the minimum settings everyth...

Aurora has been modelling internationally for a number of years (she is also a photographer), but her recent visit to Melbourne was the first chance I have had to work with her. She rented a high rise apartment, and we shot there. There was this interesting artwork on the wall, which appealed to me as both a backdrop and a prop.
Aurora starts in her sheer dress (which you will see more of later) then goes nude and makes interesting shapes using her body and the p...

Sylph saw the projection shots of May and liked them, so I suggested we try some on the shoot we had planned. I recently acquired a Godox AK-R21 projection accessory, and this was the first chance to try it out. This shoot took place in Sylph’s accommodation, and we could not find a white wall with enough space to cast a big image, so it is mostly bodyscapes - as her torso was all that could fit into the projection.
Lessons learned:
- You need a fair bit of...

About 18 months ago I posted the first selection from this shoot with the stunning Zalia. Shot back in 2012 at the lost and lamented Storehouse Studio in Belgrave.
Zalia is half African, half German, and totally beautiful and exotic. Her shots have been popular, and I finally got around to processing the rest of the shoot, which will appear over the next several weeks.

The last set from the miner’s cabin shoot, Cynthia put on her floral lingerie set and we faced off over the chess board. I don’t recall who won; I’m not sure it matters.

Sarah was a photographer who specialised in shooting circus performers. She travelled from the US with a friend to do a circus skills workshop in Melbourne. As it turned out her friend and another friend they met on the course were part time strippers, and she followed them along to a shoot set up by my friend Sam.
She surprised us with her willingness to be photographed nude - which we found out when she looked at a table and said, "I really like this skirt, but I don't hav...

This was the start of a very long shoot when Misschelle visited St Kilda.
After looking around the large house she was staying in and her showing me the extensive wardrobe she had travelled with, I elected to start in the back yard with her leather trench-coat and thigh high boots.
It was an overcast day so the natural light was quite soft, but being Melbourne it kept changing in intensity, so getting consistent exposure was a challenge.

Shooting with professional ballet dancer Renee at the Tall Dark and Art House of Boudoir, I dressed her in the silver chain outfit (if you can call it an outfit considering how much cover it gives) and silver necklace. Later she agreed to let me trap her in my one and only piece of bondage gear.

As nice as Sienna's lingerie was, I thought you'd also like to see some nudes in the same setting.
Technical: Nikon D850 with NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E lens. Light from 2 Godox AD200pro pocket flashes arranged either side of Sienna. Longer shutter speed (1/50 second) to get more natural light from outside on to the windows to overexpose them and give pure white in the photo.

After shooting the red dress set we kept the same scene for some art nude style shots. I think I saw Alice comment somewhere (referring to the red dress) that she is much more comfortable naked in front of a lens.
Most shots are in the original colour - as I know that's what my audience likes - but the style of shot and Alice's look really lends itself to monochrome, so I have included a few d...

Alice had a workshop in the morning and I was shooting her in the afternoon in the same studio - so I met her at the end of the workshop and we had lunch together. On the way back to the studio we passed an op shop (charity shop) with a rack of clothes out the front, and this red dress kind of jumped out at us - and only $5!
Strictly speaking it is 1 size too big, but I think Alice made it work.

This goes right back to my first shoot with Aim when she was just 19. As this was our first time working together, and I’d only seen a little of her other work, it took a little while to find our groove. But something must have clicked because I have a done 14 shoots with her so far and we are discussing our next one.
