Hello my fantastic patrons.
here goes - a little bit sadly - a step by step process of my tribute drawing to Raffaella Carrà, who recently passed away.
I mostly remember her big smile, and I chose to draw her in her young age, with her 60s style.
The most important thing when creating a drawing is the « point of view ». Here I decided not to create something sad or melancholic, but to focus on the happiness she used to share through her art.
hugs!

Hello my dear patrons
It’s been sad to hear about showgirl Raffaella Carrà passing by. She was incredibly popular in Italy, a piece of pop culture. I have a lot of childhood memories related to her image, voice and shows.
I wanted to make a little tribute that I posted on Instagram. In next post I’ll show the process, from anatomical construction to final render.

Hello back! Here goes the coloring.
As you can see, I played it safe and picked the color palette from my book pages :)
My anthem is "80% confort zone, 20% challenge"
I start putting down the global feeling with a bigh brush, not worrying abour precision. Here I wanted to play between warm bright sunlight and cool dark blue-green shadows.
Once I feel I have it, I start the characters, then I go back on the background on and on. Only at the end I clean up all the mess a...

Hello my super patrons! I hope you're well in this finally hot June (well, it's HOT here in Barcelona!)
I want to share with you something I did last week: a promotional poster for volume 2 of Grémillet Sisters.
I did itin a rush :D as usual, but I'm kind of satisfied.
I wanted to represent "summer in the countryside". I imagined the cool air under the big trees, and the small animals around the water ponds ... I can't wait to be there :)
The main character of this bo...

Hello my fantastic patrons, it’s HOT at last (well, here in Spain sure it is :)
I want to share with you a pin-up series I did to promote Ekhö Mirror World volume 10. Doing a “series” is always a good exercise, for you can use your comfort zone only in the first ones. Then you have to make your neurons to work to find new positions :)
So choose a subject and let’s go! Here the theme was China.
hugs!

Hello back again! Here goes the last one. You can see how I define the drawing playing with the pression of the hand for giving depth and volume.
I use Staedler ergo soft water coloring pencils for the pigment is very shiny and bright.
As you can see I always use two colors or three to obtain a vibration even if a monochrome drawing.
Did you try to do it?

Hello my dear patrons! Next post will be the video of the making of this drawing I did for my own very personal MerMay, where I want to transform my little daughters the W.I.T.C.H. heroines in mermaids.
You will be able to see the way I construct my characters and play with colored pencils for having a vibrant result.
Sooooo stay tuned!

Hello my dear PPatrons
here go the last 2 pages of my Ekhö volume 10 Pin-Ups collection!
I had a lot of fun with the air-dance positions! I used some reference pictures and modified. For the costumes I looked at Cirque du Soleil's costumes for inspiration.
See you soon in next post :) a hug!

Hello everyone! Yes my work on Ekhö volume 10 is not over yet! A special, deluxe edition is going to be printed soon (Graff éditions) and it needs a cover image.
Here is the full process from the first idea to the final image in BW.
The theme is China. The story is about shaolin monks and chinese circus. I used the firts one for the official cover (that you can find here in my Patreon) so this time I use the second: it’s Circus Time!
I inspired by Cirque du Soleil for...

Hello my fantastic patrons! Here goes a step by step process about this drawing I did of Taranee Cook , one of the heroines of my W.I.T.C.H. project.
As you can see I start placing the head and trace the Line of Action (very very important to give life to every drawing!)
then I start creating the body volumes using a simplified anatomy like the one they use in the cartoon studios.
The first thing that I detail is always the Face. I need to see the expression of the face to k...

Hello again my wonderful Patrons.
I want to show you something I did right yesterday: it's a cover illustration for "Le Journal de Spirou" (Spirou Magazine, published by Dupuis in France and Belgium).
I chose to represent the three Grémillet Sisters in a dramatic situation. The inspiration is a scene from the climax of the book (you can see in image 6 the pages that I used as a reference).
As usual for this book, I did the drawing on watercolor paper, with grey watercolors ...

Hello my dear patrons!
I show you here the process for drawing a simple but effective pose .
I always start from the “balloon”: I place the head and trace the action line (which means the line that passes through the whole body and makes the pose fluid and natural)
I use a simplified anatomy, mostly inspired by animation characters but a little more detailed.
This is the main difference between my old drawing , very cartoony, and the new one, more “French comics...

Hello my dear Patrons
here goes the steps for the coloring of this image, the cover image of Grémillet Sister's second book.
I already told in a previous post abour the idea: ucing 2 colors, blue and warm yellow, and play with the contrast. The problem in a cover is that it has to be very clear even from distance (you have to iamgine someone entering in the book shop and you book is on a shelf some meters away ... yes, I think about this, I swear!) and very small (for catching th...
