This week I have a real treat for you to make up for last week's lack of Nihilism posts! Here we go:

Kinda cool, eh? Eh?! And you have no idea how many dang screen caps of different videos of all kinds of wannabee cossacks I took and sketched through to figure out this (and next) pages. For me it was the crucial moment for the story - a while back I even tweeted a bunch of thoughts about how much I lo...

Aaaaand PHEWWWH!
Yes, it is finally done - our second big batch of commissions, with new patrons' drawings process shot on camera as a bonus. (Sorry veterans, video is only for newbies this time!)
Some changes coming to our commissions system, but it will be announced separately a bit later. As for now - all the new drawings are below! (and Dropbox folder with separate pictures is 2018-07-13 22:10:02 +0000 UTC

I am so glad to have this page captured on video, and with my favorite song visiting us this week, too! You probably noticed that this page is one of the few done outside of my small moleskine on a bigger sheet of paper. The (second) moleskine is already fat with separate 9 grid panels, so before the end of this chapter of Chernobyl we'll have a couple of special pages more!

When it's not Inktober, you are very hyped about a certain videogame announcement but "free" fanart time is short, and you have the best patrons and followers:

Love you, man <3

(Dang, I really need to buy more screentones...)

Next week I'm planning to launch pre-orders for EVERYTHING: third English print of Slavic Nihilism #1, first print for #2 (along with the proper announcement of Dmitry's part of the book!) and even DIGITAL version of #2 (I think you can do this on Gumroad?) And then the second book itself will be printed and launched digitally sometime in the middle of July.
Lining up orders this early should help me ...

But man, I still love this drawing. I need more occasions to draw mythological stuff! <3
What's that?
Well, it's a new video... With a thrilling twist and a lot of struggle and drama near the end!
I'll let the client who ordered this commission decide whether they want the "clean" version of this drawing, or the darker one, but I definitely prefer this one:

Just kidding!
For this month's comic subscription I have a little story titled BPM (as in "beats per minute"), written by out good Yuriy Plisenko (who also translates Slavic Nihilism to English). It was done for a Russian-language anthology DISSONANCE, but our story ended up being completely silent (I hope you don't mind a few Slavic SFXs, tho!)

It's kinda weird how we don't actually see The Meed in this part of the action, although he is very active in it. He's not "properly" present even in the next strip, and intentionally so... But what do you think, guys?

Anyway - I think it's time to get back to our Russian illustrators endorsement!
Today I give you the great Gennady Spirin.
He's pretty popular on tumblr, Pi...

But seriously, I kinda like the look of it, for a smaller singular drawing. (Also, remember this one?)

Maybe one day this cheap trick could work in an actual comic? I do go to forests often, you know, and my phone is always with me!

Aaaaand we're back!
So yeah, some re-figuring happened in the past couple of weeks, and strip 27 is now moved from the end of page 10 to opening of this page (11). I won't show you the additional panels now - they are not critical for storytelling, just lil' bits that bothered me for the whole month of May, so let's maybe leave something for the printed version, heh? ;)
But hey, more importantly - "IS THAT A SOUTH KOREAN MOVIE AIR KICK", you ask?

Huh? What's that? Well, my friends, these are just little design elements we'll probably put on my Western comic's single issues back covers! All 6 of the issues!

...Huh? They say the announcement will probably move from Summer to Autumn? Weeeelp-- *Curb Your Enthusiasm theme starts playing*

A bit of sad news for my $3+ patrons - no CHERNOBYL strips this week, sorry :( Really, really need to take a break to fix a couple of things before pushing book forward.
Not so sad news: we're closer and closer to this book's announcement! Hnnnggggghhh, I hate waiting sooo muuuuch --

Phew!
So, I'm back from vacation (and what a blast it was!), and I couldn't get a better return gift than a caravan of freshly scanned pages by Dmitry Nesterak from his mysterious Slavic Nihilism #2 story! He only has 3 pages left to do, and I think I am also another three or four pages short for the first chapter of Chernobyl, so we're pretty close to print release.
Anyway, more interesting stuff coming in June! Stay tuned, and maybe invite your mom and y...

Whooooo! The 9-grid is officially broken, ahaha! Cheers!
Next week we'll be back in Saint Petersburg - and, hopefully, my moleskin is already filled with new panels to scan and compose together.

Aaaaand there's Indrik!
In the cast of just 3 main (and male) characters and with more "cartoony" style to explore, our third guy - mischievous Indrik - was the hardest one to tackle. And after few shitty attempts to steal Al Gofa's style I ended up asking my friend and colleague 2018-05-16 12:01:00 +0000 UTC

I don't know how about you, but I'm loving everything about first strip here: this is the moment I was teasing in my twitter so many times as "some kinky furry shit" and chuckled to myself every time I remembered about it. And it is exactly what it looks like - a wolf is role-playing as a fox's watchdog for the sake of not wearing any clothes except for the nice spiked collar.
Fun fact: the "...

Aaaaaand we're done with the second batch of commissions! Now everything from February/March is done, I'm leaving on a long vacation in a couple of days, and the next wave of commissions will be done sometime in June.
Thank you all for your support, and I hope these will be a nice reward to you ;) Invite your friend while I still have some $20 slots left! And I hope that the ones who are coming for commissions will stay for comics...Or at least more commissions, hehe :D

Getting back to a very beloved book, one part of which was drawn 3+ years ago, and another part - sometime in 2016. What is weird about it is that I want to redraw more parts of my 2016 stuff while older pages look more solid.

I'm sorry if you're a first wave $20 patron and yet you can't find your commission in this video - I should finish the rest of them once I get back from a convention! Drawing those commissions out of order and obligatory shooting them on video was kinda a poor idea, but I hope some of you at least still find these videos fascinating...
Also, regarding our videos - once again, I am kinda on the fence:

Heyooo, my friends!
Some scheduling updates for your boi Artyom: this Friday I'm flying to Krasnoyarsk to visit Siberian Comic Con and do my old washed up stage routine "Making it into American comics industry... Kinda" (which, depending on time of the year and my current work situation, usually derails me into some stage of slight depression). But THEEEEN on May 8th my wife Katia and I are goin...

And for this month's Sequentialist subscription we have my old one-shot called CHARRED KRAKEN back from 2013/2014. Written by Chris Irvin (who put out some nice novels since then!), drawn by me (and it's one of my last prevalently digital work), colored by Kelly Fitzpatrick and lettered by good ol' Thomas Mauer.
Chris self-published this book both physically and on Comixology, but he doesn't mind me putting it on my Patreon either.

Aw hell, guys, I really don't know: of course I'd love to keep that "ninegrid" thing going on for some time, but in no way it should be an end in itself.
So maybe we can break the game a little in this strip? Whadda you guys think? Please, vote!
