Today, I begin collection data on the Spruance class destroyer. This is a very interesting ship to me because it's focus was ASW warfare, it was very good at it's job, but it was extremely large for the time and had other faults.
This one will take a while to get right. Call for research team ~FEB 10th. ETA end of month.

Last year I announced that I would publish a new Sub Brief lecture on YouTube if we went over 2000 Patreon members. We crossed that mark this month. Below is a poll of the 10 most recent Sub Briefs; vote for your favorite(s).
The winning lecture will be posted on YouTube in February (mid-month). You can vote for more than one.

Here are the line diagrams for the USS Albacore AGSS-569.
I have the SUB BRIEF back from the Researchers. There are a lot of improvements and additional information I have to add. This will be a comprehensive and definitive Briefing on the USS Albacore.
My goal is to have it recorded and released this Friday.

I had a great time with John, the host of The Dark State.

Albacore was such a radical design (for 1950) it was subject to wind tunnel tests before construction was approved. The top Navy Brass did not want to risk changing the shape of the hull from the GUPPY design. It took a very motivated Naval officer, Charles 'Swede' Momsen to push this project into reality.
This is going to be a fun one.

The SINPO Class submarine began its life as a Type 033 Chinese Romeo design variant. In the Sub Brief, I will explain in great detail China's involvement with North Korea's submarine 'Project 13' led to the creation of the SINPO Ballistic missile submarine.
This is a sanitized report of China's Romeo submarine production in the 70's and 80's.

North Korea converted one of its old Soviet-era Romeo diesel boats into a nuclear-capable ballistic missile platform. The Sub Brief will review the historical relationship of Soviet Russia and North Korea, how they acquired Soviet Romeo submarines and how this 60-year-old sub became the only, active ballistic missile diesel boat.

If you would like an early look at the next Warship Brief, I've got a deal for you. I need a small group of volunteers to review, correct, and add information to the briefing. Preferably, if you served or were in any way connected to the Oliver Hazard Perry Frigate, I want you.
Researchers receive first draft slides from the upcoming lecture and are credited by name in the Sources slide.
Contact me via email: aaron@subbrief.com if you are interested in helping.
