As we talked in the discord server, here is a video showcasing how I approach diluting paint.
Spoiler Alert: It's quite boring
2020-05-23 15:43:27 +0000 UTC View PostHi Guys!
I've been asked, SO MANY TIMES, about what brushes do I use in my videos that I decided to make a post about this so I don't need to write this down each time someone asks me that question again. For the time being, this will cover just brushes but I plan on updating this with other tools and include affiliate links once they are ready.

BRUSHES
I have three main brands that I can recommend without a doubt, this brushes have always been absolutley magnificent.

From left to right: Series 33 size 2, Series 8 size 2, Series 33 size 3, Series 8 size 3, Series 33 size 4, Series 8 size 4.
This are my Rosemary and co Kolinsky Brushes, they are brand new from my latest order, taking the price into account, the Rosemary and Co series 33 is, BY FAR, the best brushes you can get. Beautiful quality, great tips and again, VERY cheap.
I ordered some Series 8 brushes as well, supposedly a bit longer than the series 33 but in all honestly the difference is minimum and the price difference is quite noticeable so I would recommend you stick to the Series 33. Sizes 2, 3 and 4 are my personal favourites and the only ones I need and use.
Rosemary and Co has been my go to brushes lately for everything, I love them and I was surprised when I discovered myself reaching for them time and time again.
Finally I have a Rosemary and Co Affiliation!!

From left to Right: Raphaël 8404 size 0 and size 1
This ones are to me, not considering the price, the best brushes I've ever used. The thing is the difference in quality with Rosemary is very small but the difference in price is big, so have that into account when you consider buying new brushes.
Size 0 and 1 are my all time favourites, the tip on my size 0 is just insane, its my go to brush for extreme detail.
you can buy your Raphael 8404 brushes from Jackson's Art:

From left to right: Rosemary and Co Smooshing brush Small, Medium and Large
I recently bought this set of brushes for my drybrushing and I don't regret it, they are amazing. I don't do drybrushing all that much but the little I do now looks much better.
WET PALETTE
There is only one option for me, Redgrass Games Everlasting is just the best. I have TWO of the large ones that I use all the time, you can see them in all my videos.

It's so good I made a video about it, and bought two for myself:

2020-04-27 14:51:32 +0000 UTC View PostWell, as I had already done the step by step on the armour I thought it would be a neat idea to show the process on how I did Xandria's base.
STEP 1 - Build the structure

I used Greenstuff to built the structure that would become the snow blowing into the wind. I find Greenstuff ideal for this as it's very elastic, this doesn't need to be pretty.
STEP 2 - Cover the base with Basing Paste

I use Vallejo Dark Earth paste to cover the flat sections of the base and painted the now dry greenstuff with Corax White, this is so no green shows through the snow.
STEP 3 - Overbrush

Overbrush the texture paint carefully using VMC Buff.
STEP 4 - Wash

Apply a wash of Agrax Earthshade over the texture.
STEP 5 - Glue down Leaves

I used Oak leaves from AMMO Mig, these are absolutely stunning but ridiculously expensive. I glued them with PVA in the most dynamic way possible. I used some very fine tweezers for that.
STEP 6 - Paint the Leaves

At this level of painting, EVERYTHING you glue to your base should be painted, EVERYTHING. In this case the leaves where also very dull you can see how much of a difference painting them makes. This is the process.
Yellow Leaves:
Orange Leaves:
STEP 7 - Apply Tufts

To add some more variation to the base and also to add even more movement, I glue some tufts. I first cut part of them so they glue leaned into the wind direction and once gkued I smash them down with the flat side of my tweezers to accentuate that even more.
As with the leaves the Tufts are also painted, its very simple but the difference is massive:
Step 8 - Apply Snow

Its now time to apply the snow, I used a product that I had laying around, looks like some kind of crushed glass, its basically a very bright and sparkly powder. It's about 20 years old, so I don't know who made it sorry.
I take that powder and mix it with water, PVA and a drop of White Ink, until I have a good consistency to spread it and I place it using a very old brush on the base.
Once placed and while it's fresh, I take some Aethermatic Blue and thin it down A LOT, more than you think, trust me, you have it VERY thin now? THIN IT MORE. Apply this very carefully to add some shadows into the snow, just smalls touches with a brush, be very delicate.
STEP 9 - Final Touches

Finally I just added some more leaves on top of the snow and painted them in the same way as before.
With the rim painted black, the base and the whole model is DONE!
Hope you guys liked it!

HOW TO PAINT THE FLAMES!!
Sadly I tried to make a video on the flames but it makes for a very bad tutorial. I can definitely explain you how it's made though:
- Basecoat of White
- Glaze Fluorescent Magenta leaving the white in the deepest recesses
- Mix progressively more and more Violet Ink into the Magenta and go up the flame
- Go back and forth with the Magenta and the different mixes with ink smoothing out the transitions
- Once you have pure Violet Ink paint the very tips with Black
- Highlight those with Slannesh Grey and Ulthuan Grey to simulate smoke
Showcasing the Vortex Mixer from China I bought thanks to all of you.
THANKS GUYS! Hope you like it!
