Homosexuality is considered quite respectable in Herman/Reacher's world, especially among carnivores. It's seen as a small contribution to the solution of the carnivore overpopulation problem that's causing so much trouble. It's not celebrated per se, but carnivore homosexuality has a sort of patriotic tinge to it.

   But 100-degree + heat and chronic sleep-dep isn't enough to explain my present lassitude. I've done more work in worse conditions. Think I'll finally get that full medical check-up I've been promising myself.
