EPISODE.3: more Recon costume exploration

New sticker

Full VS page development

Rough VS page. I'm starting to figure and streamline my process when it comes from sketches to finished work. I def like starting out traditionally in my sketchbook, making many many drawings, and studies. I can't do things in a monolithic way, it just doesn't work for me. Making individual drawings whenever I think a particular feeling or emotion I need to convey for a panel occurs. Sorry for the silence here, especially on the spicy tier end of things! I've been busy and traveling a bit so getting sometime to myself to work has been hard.

A Place in the West Ch.8 Alt Cover

Over a year ago, Ross at APW asked me to do the alt cover for ch.8 and I couldn't be happier to do so! The main inspiration for this cover is of course the HLA key art. The third image was the initial thumbs i showed to Ross. Angel

Working on some traditional Angel inks for June's Spicy tier pieces. Im currently away from home for a bit getting some health stuff taken care of. Anxiety has been through the roof lately bc of minor health complications but im working on my attitude and mindset through all this.

The set up is not ideal and weird to say the least. I only brought so much Bristol board with me to ink on for these pieces. Im doing a couple Angel pieces and some work on Infrared in between comms and such....

So one of my SSDs had a freak accident and got deleted somehow. I can still recover it, but I'll need a new SSD to do so. I'm taking a few emergency commissions like these to help get a new one. Break concept paint

Practicing painting characters with a concept art mindset between gigs. I said I'd give the HL stuff a rest, but I had a cute idea alternate outfit idea inspired by a tumblr post I saw recently and I wanted to get out of my system! And maybe painting more comfy things will allow me to explore painting more easily and less painstakingly. The HL fixation is still in my brain and will never leave, but I want to finish up some more of my HL-centric gigs before I can continue to dedicate more time...

Samus paint study

Was just a head sketch at first and decided to take it further and do some anatomy/material studies with Samus. I relied heavily on looking at ref here. My goal is to streamline the painting process with fewer strokes and to use more broad ones. When I look at ref while painting, I can't help but paint the small details and zoom in too much to capture the small things, so I think I need to resize the canvas to something smaller. Vance Subprime sketch

Ross told me about this little gaff he wanted to write into VS, but was afraid it would come off the wrong way, for reasons we agreed on. To put it shortly, a certain pair of undergarments present on Alyx's model in HL2 can make these kinds of cute, one-off things feel icky and gratuitous. We didn't want her to be seen this way for those wrong reasons. That aside, I thought it was fine as one-off thing (respectfully) to show you guys and sketched it out real quick sometime ago.
