Sailor Mars

Man, I had forgotten how much I love Sailor Moon's character designs. They’re the perfect blend between superhero and schoolgirl that makes them extra tantalizing. Take Mars, for example… her sleek black hair, combined with her fiery red outfit and little red pumps makes her an absolute delight. I had so much fun drawing her that I’m thinking about doing a few of the others. Venus in particular sounds pretty tempting…

I know Poison can be interpreted both ways, but my headcannon is that she’s got a nice, big, uncut member, with a little surprise for us under the hood. Sharlene’s Pussy Play

It’s just another day for Sharlene, the horniest cheerleader in Hot Shit High! Decided to go bold with the colors this time, working with a saturated palette. Being colorblind really sucks, but this felt somewhat liberating. Does it work? Who the hell knows, but at least I had fun... just like Sharlene! :)

Just Another Day for Sharlene - WiP

Been trying to get back in the swing of illustration (and its myriad of challenges), so I decided to start with one of Sharlene, after countless failed attempts... I figured it would be best to focus on image composition, gesture, and color. Keep the idea simple, but the imagery exciting - so I pushed the pose a little bit and drew her with an arched back, diving into her pillows, as she brings herself to an explosive finish. Don't Worry, Diane...

Had the idea for this funny little strip a while back. I don't know what it means really, but it was a good excuse to draw a puffy mound. Got a list of ideas for some illustrations coming up, but I really need to get back into the swing of using color. 

Chapter 2 Cover Illustration

And here's the cover for Chapter 2!

I decided to keep this one simple, with basic cell shading and soft gradients keeping the style inline with the interior pages. Whereas last time the cover illustration set a scene with Sharlene on the bathroom floor, this time the image is more graphic, placing the character fully in focus. Had a lot of fun doing this, and I think it suits Chapter 2 pretty nicely. What do you think?

Chapter 2 Cover Image (Sketch)

I'm back again! This time with a peek at the upcoming cover image for Chapter 2, featuring Sharlene! I wanted to show her bright and happy in her cheerleading uniform, sporting a nice big toothy smile. I'm going to keep this simple. The title might get changed into a banner, or a flag or something, but Sharlene will be the focus here front and center. I also couldn't resist putting her in some extremely tiny underwear, with matching uniform colors of course! 

Hot Shit High Ch.2, Pg 85 & 86

Holy hell, it’s finally finished! Thank-you so much for your patience with these last two pages (and throughout this whole thing, really). I honestly can’t believe it’s done.

Well actually… it’s not entirely done, yet. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ll be going through the comic and making some minor revisions (nothing too important; just touching up some formatting issues and adding a few forgotten details), plus creating a cover illustration.

After reading this page you can probably guess where things are headed. The next two pages (the last pages in the comic!) will be drawn and released simultaneously, since there will be a bit of dialog that links from one page to the next. 

After that, I'll be working on a color illustration for the cover and revising some of the pages before finishing up the project. 

Hot Shit High Ch.2, Pg 83

All right - this page took a bit longer than I wanted it to, but I appreciate your patience. 🙏

This page marks the beginning of a new day at Hot Shit High, and it’s a direct call-back to the beginning of the comic, when Marvin nervously walked through a hallway of admiring coeds. The scene here is very similar, only this time Marvin is a little less shy about it. Could he finally be gaining some confidence on his own?

Page 83 WiP (Girls in the Hall part 2)

So earlier in the comic, Marvin was greeted by an assortment of beautiful and interested ladies in the school hallway. Well, this panel is a direct call-back to that earlier scene, only this time Marvin will be feeling a bit better about it than he was the first time.

I’m going for a crowded hallway here, but the space is limited… so I’m thinking a few nondescript figures to fill out the background should be enough, and then I’ll be moving on the tones and dialog.

Hot Shit High Ch.2, Pg 82

This shot of Mr. Thornton took a little longer to render than I anticipated, but I'm pleased with the moody, atmospheric results. You may remember him accosting Billy for his cigarette earlier in the comic. Well, we've come full circle here, and good old Mr. Thornton is none too happy about it. What horrors await Billy? Well whatever it is, it can't be good, as Mr. Thornton has earned his reputation around Hot Shit High as a rough reprimander...

Page 82 WiP

Here's a peek at the lines for Page 82. I'm pretty happy with this insanely evil looking Mr. Thornton that I drew. I didn't intend for him to look this pissed off, but I guess I can't help but draw him this way... In this scene he's picking up Billy's cigarette butt from the floor in the aftermath of the cafeteria event. You may recall him accosting Billy for his indoor smoking habit earlier in the comic. Well, this is a direct call back to that moment, and hopefully (if I planned this right)...

Hot Shit High Ch.2, Pg 81

...and that’s the end of Sharlene’s story arc for this chapter, thus concluding her diary entry that the comic opened with. But fear not! There are still 5 pages left in the chapter that are necessary to round off the story, and one more little surprise. 

Anyway, let’s hear it for Sharlene. I think I made the right call in giving her center stage this chapter :)

So throughout the comic I made sure to reiterate this idea, or motif, that Sharlene is "the best there is" (in her own words), and in between those statements she has been vying for Marvin's attention to prove it. At long last she has gains a little acknowledgement from him and can't hold back her feelings (and I suppose it helps that Marvin is still alive). I really wanted to make sure this page felt right, so I gave the hug as much space as I could and tried to focus on the gesture and feel...

Page 80 WiP (getting emotional)

Here's a peek at the lines for the upcoming page. At this point in the comic, Sharlene gives Marvin a nice, big hug, after all they've been through. I wanted to give this panel some extra space to breathe, so I've reserved the bottom half of the page for it. I've had this image in my mind for a long time, and I'm happy to say that I'm pleased with the drawing (those hands weren't easy!). 

Anywho, this WiP is actually from a day or two ago. The rest of the page, and the screen tones...

Detention With Mi-hee

Colors on the Mi-hee illustration! I gotta say... my favorite thing about this image (aside from the plaid schoolgirl motif), is the little band-aid on the knee... I couldn't resist it! I am also quite happy with the wispy pubes. It's always tricky to figure out an appealing way to draw them, but I find hers fun to illustrate.
