A Blast From The Past (part 2)

I would like to formally welcome all our new Patrons, and thank you for reading and supporting the comic!

While I try to post something here on Patreon at least once or twice a week, I have no set schedule or theme at the moment, so posting is simply a matter of when I have the time or the inspiration.

A Blast From The Past (part 1)

Here's something  for ya. As I was putting my office back together from my little reorganization, I found some old artwork that never got used.

The Streak

As noted earlier, the "Cara Goes Back To Work" strips will start running this week- now with backgrounds and maybe just a tweak or two to the dialogue. :)

And it's fortunate too, as I'll be more or less offline for at least one if not two or more full days this week. I've been doing some remodeling to my office/work area, which included, among other things, re-drywalling two of the walls, adding more outlets and getting rid of the ratty old carpets.

This is something I've been needing to...

This isn't the extra I planned to post, but it's something, for the moment. :)

This is the original version of the April 4th, 2017 strip. The idea was that Swamps had a wall of snapshots of Sandy, one of which was from one of the parties, in which she had apparently gotten a tad inebriated.

I liked the gag but I thought it really didn't fit with Sandy's personality- and I didn't want to add in a five-strip fight between the two, after Doc spots the pic. :)

Quick reminder for Patrons new and old...

For at least the next week, possibly two, we'll be running some of the strips from an upcoming storyline in which Cara goes back to work. We'll get to see an early version of the coffee shop (I'm still working on the details) and meet at least one, if not two, of the other baristas.

I'm going to try and post at least two strips a week for the next week or two (time and workload depending) possibly along with some extra sketches. Those strips will probably then go live on the main page after th...

I didn't intend to have two butt shots in a row, that was just a happy coincidence. :) Most of this weeks' strips were written and drawn early last fall, and as I was queuing them up, I thought that since we were in the middle of a membership run, this'd make a nice little pic for the donors.

A Favor Repaid

I owed a reader a small favor for some technical help a while back, and yesterday he said, in effect, "just show us some cheesecake of the new girl and we'll call it even." :) The phrase came from an earlier discussion concerning the "box of old socks" strip from last Friday, which just seemed like something a sled dog might want to have right there. :)

Mikittok, part 2:

I apparently can't add a second image to a post, so here's a new post. :)

As noted below, I whitened the hair, which I think looks better still, and, since I'm still terrible with proportions after all these years and still tend to draw the ladies a bit... saggy, I raised the bosom a smidge as well.

And, to answer some of the questions from below: As for a trendy bob cut or something like that, as already noted, I can't do hair well. Every time I try a different style, it never looks rig...

While she's still not really what I had in mind at the beginning, I think this version should work out fairly well. The main issue was that a full black for the body coloring simply wasn't going to work, especially around the eyes, without a great deal of extra shading and effort.

But after lightening it up to a dark faintly-bluish grey, she started coming together. Still not terribly happy with the hair, though- I just can't draw decent hair- so expect the design with still evolve a bit more ...

Quick character sketches

Still trying to work out a decent character design for the other baristas.  I've tried a couple of versions of the husky, and nothing's quite what I had in mind, yet. Been toying with the idea of switching to something else- maybe a tiger, since TWB only has one of them (and he hasn't been seen in several years. :) )

Cara Goes To Work, Part 3:

Still kind of a work in progress: Still playing with the colors of the shop (leaning toward browns and reds) and working on some background images for various scenes.

And yes, the first look at one of the other baristas- supposed to be a black and white Husky, but not 100% happy with the character design yet. Didn't want to go with white hair, but the black-with-white-frost look isn't working when the image is reduced.

And, I have no idea what to name her. Suggestions welcomed. :)

Still a work in progress, and needs a couple more hours of shading and detail work, but I ran out of time. Gives a first look at the shop- it's not a 'chain' coffee shop, and it's in an older building with high ceilings.

Cara Goes To Work, Part 1:

Something a bit special for current and new Patrons: we'll be running a few strips from a little later in the storyline, following Cara as she goes back to work at the coffee shop.

You ladies and gents will get an early look at the coffee shop itself (plus, ahem, it'll give me a chance to get a handle on drawing it before it 'goes live' on the main page :) ) plus we'll get to meet the two newest characters!

2013 is now fully colorized!

That wasn't too bad, most of them were already largely colored, and just needed a bit of shading or background. There were a few more than I'd originally throught, with a total of 14: 1657, 1658, 1682, 1684, 1685, 1687, 1696, 1724, 1725, 1726, 1728, 1730, 1731 and 1732.

That leaves us just four for all of 2014, two of which are already colored and just need shading.

We're closing in on it!

Strips 1524 and 1528 are colored, completing all of 2012. And that catches us all the way up to Halloween of 2013! Stand by!

Colorization continues!

Okay, apparently I goofed with yesterday's update and needed a new one-panel strip, rather than just coloring an old one. 1521 is now an all-new comic:

After that, I touched up 1526, 1547, 1549 and 1553, plus button09. That puts us at just two- I think- strips left to color (1524 and 1528) to close out 2012.

2013 has just ten, most of which are color...

Colorization Theater:

Continuing to catch up on the uncolored and/or unfinished strips,  I've added 1517, 1518, 1519, 1520, 1521, 1522 and 1523, as well as button strips button04 and button07.

1520 and 1521 also fix a small glitch, where the two comics were the same. They were supposed to be two separate one-panel comics, and now they've been colored AND the second comic has been restored.

We're catching up!

Recoloration continues!

Keeping up on the outstanding Milestone, I was able to mildly rework strip 1509 (I didn't like the rectangular word bubbles) and fully color strips 1513, 1514, 1515, and 1516.

Just 14 more- some of which only need shading- to finish off all the strips for 2012.  After that, there's only about half a dozen strips to do for 2013 (all during the Halloween battle between MegaJinx and MechaKasi) and then another dozen or so all the way up into 2015.

I'll keep chewin' em out if you'll kee...

Continuing Milestone Update:

As one of the last Milestones was to go back and color or finish coloring any as-yet undone strips back to the start of the color, I've been trying to  catch up with that as I have time.

I had a bit of time today (Sunday) and while I was waiting for other things to process, I was able to finish up strips 1499, 1500, 1503, 1504, 1505, 1506 and 1507.

There's still a good list left to go, and I'll keep crackin' away at it!
