The weather's been exceptionally good, so I try to start my day off with about 25 minutes of sun-basking and coffee outside. Been drawing a little in one of my old Muji sketchbooks I've had sitting around unused for years, using it to warm up before I get to work on anything else.

If any of you follow announcements and artposts on my Telegram channel you probably heard my computer had a pretty nasty crash with its boot/OS drive last Tuesday, leaving me without digital drawing access until yesterday. FINALLY working the book cover before I get back to finishing the final chapter's inks, since the old pitch image I did of Wyit and Rek in the snow is a bit outdated by now. A business partner requested having the book's cover ready soon, and I think it's time I finally had a main, eye-catching "what it's all about" promo image.
Still going to try a few other compositions, taking a LOT of influence from Noriyoshi Ohrai and Drew Struzan, the two gigachads of epic movie poster art.

More character warmup drawings! Lately I've been adding a little bit of flat toning to help make the images read a little clearer when sized down and such.
As always, these figure drawings are open to use as reference/trace-overs for your own work if you want. Yes, even your monetized drawings like commissions and stuff! I really don't mind.

Coloring up the first 10 pages of the book right now for some promotional purposes. I'll get back to the home stretch of inks soon, but it's SO satisfying to be coloring again and feel the book really come alive.
Best of all, the coloring for these pages is going by FAST. Far quicker than I expected it would. The first 2 pages were a bit slow (3ish hours apiece) since I had to refresh on my technique, but the 3rd page was colored in an hour flat. That's insane.

Haven't posted this page in full anywhere, but you get it here!
A lot of my pencil roughs end up looking only vaguely like the final inks, and this one's a perfect example of that. A LOT of what I end up inking happens solely on the ink layer with little to no underdrawing sometimes, but there's a few rough sketches in the layered file here that show how I arrived at the final ink.

Although it hasn't appeared much in any comic pages I've posted yet, Shar carries a very special knife. It's been puzzling me for a while, trying to figure out a blend of military functionality with a touch of aristocratic artifact-value to it. She's basically a high-ranking feudal lady, and whatever blade this is needs to reflect that while still looking like it can pierce between armor plates and be used in close quarters combat...
