WIPs for Little Runt (Page 61)

The smoke effect was pretty fun to do for this one! I was nervous going into this page too because I wasn't sure if the lighting would look as good as I imagined it would, but I was wrong. :3

The main changes here is that I decided to make Irwin more visible (besides just a muzzle poking out, make the panel heights the same, and have Nes's body and head twist differently so it looks more like he's turning around from confusion, rather than he thinks something is behind him already. That helps his shocked/surprised reaction in the second panel look more believable!

Two female character commissions in the past three! I guess I've gotten better at them, so they're more in-demand now. :3

The reason I replaced the alternate expression was just because I felt like it wasn't working well. I couldn't get the hair to look right no matter what I tried. It just always looked wet. :p

Phew! Thanks so much to everyone who came by! I got 3-4x more viewers than I expected to show up, haha. I thought I'd get 4-6, but I was hovering between 15-20. XD Thank you so much!

Streaming is a lot more exhausting than I thought it would be, but half the reason is because it was my first time doing it. It'll get better as I get more used to it! But this will DEFINITELY not be an every day thing. I'm not sure how people do that now. x_X Maybe once a week? We'll see!

Streaming Tonight

I'm going to be streaming very soon here! Within an hour. I did a test run this morning and it went well aside from having to fix a few audio things. My starting soon, cold open, and main broadcast screens worked great!

The brand new mic I bought isn't here yet, but I figured I could get some practice in with my old one. I'll probably be streaming for 1-2 hours, and I'll be returning to one of my favorite games from my childhood - Super Mario Bros. All-Stars! I may do a little art at th...

I was given creative freedom by Joxer to draw his character (Knoxer) however I wanted! I came up with this idea of him showing off while hanging from some power lines, unfortunately causing a blackout in the neighbourhood behind him. As you can probably tell by his markings, he has electrical powers/immunity. :3

One thing I've been trying to do recently is push my color contrast further. I used to be very afraid of making things unnaturally saturated and bright, but I think as a result my coloring never really popped as much as it could have, losing extra appeal it otherwise could have had. This (as well as several upcoming commissions) I've used Levels to push the color contrast further, and I think it's really helped! :3

I love how the lighting turned out in this one. I tried out a new technique to simplify how I tint shadows and light proportionally to each other, and it worked out pretty well. Maybe even better! :3

Streaming Update

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to get into streaming soon. A bunch of my friends already do, and I've been wanting to get a new hobby that doesn't involve drawing. I figure it could be a lot of fun, and it'll help me work on my speaking/improv skills, and get me to break out of my shell a bit!

When will I be starting?

Probably the first week of May! Although I might do some test streams sooner. I don't plan on having a schedule, but I'll give warnings when I plan...

There's no thumbnail for this page! It's an idea I got after sketching what became page 61, and felt it would be a great transition than to just have Nes's shadow-self show up. :p

Originally Irwin's shadow was going to join with Nes's, as a way to imply visually how Irwin has influenced Nes's perfectionism, but in the end that I decided against it. Irwin has his own "shadow" that sticks with him as much as Nes does, and mixing the two just didn't feel right.

Towards the end I changed the clouds from cartoony ones to painted ones, and reduced how much of them there was. The focus of the painting is the character, and then the stars secondary to that. It felt weird to have most of the sky be clouds. x3
