It's weird how little I can see the final image in the lineart stage. I thought Kaladin was way off here, but as soon as I've got his skin and hair colour, there he is. Even with brilliantly blue eyes. (They change. Sometimes. Which he isn't that happy about.)

This pic took me longer than it should have - because I was worried I'd botch it, and because I had to read the third book. =D

Broken and unbroken

He shifted to move to climb down, but realized that Shallan, curled up against him, had fallen asleep. She snored softly.

“You must be the only person,” he whispered, “to ever fall asleep while outside in a highstorm.”

Uncomfortable though he was, he realized he really didn’t fancy the idea of climbing down with this wounded leg. Strength sapped, feeling a crushing darkness, he let himself succumb to the numbness, and fell asleep.

Boots - coloured

I am really happy with the colours here! And boy, I knew Kaladin would end up clean-shaven and in a dapper blue uniform by the second book, and I'm not disappointed. 😇 I had a lot of fun with researching 19th century uniforms (and cavalry equipment). Any mistakes are clearly because it’s Fantasy. 😁

Very happy with Shallan, too. I know she's technically with Tyn, who should be in this scene, but she was throwing off the confrontation.

The Princeling and the Bridgeboy

When I started drawing this, I didn’t know just how much Adolin hated being commanded around by a bridgeman darkeyes, and how much Kaladin resents princes he perceives as pampered, but now that I’m almost a third through Words of Radiance, their relationship and mutual dislike in spite of being so similar is so much fun. 😅 These books just keep getting better and better, too.

Dorian (calling his spectal, ancestral, awesome, bonded mount): "Do you want to be a... mounted fighter?"
Orym (looking absolutely smitten): "It's hard to pass up." And gives him a kiss as he's helped up into the saddle, even though he's got a 6-foot vertical leap and totally doesn't need it, but it's hard to pass up this display of chivalry, too.

Orym and Dorian are like that adorable teenage couple in Year Nine who are stealing the sweetest kisses in five minute breaks and pretend...

Dorian lifts Orym up on Coriolis to fight on horseback, and Orym steals a little kiss. Does that make him Le beau semi-homme sans merci? Absolutely pardon my French. XD

Commission: Vienna

Last of the recent commission batch: Dax' dachshund Vienna, my first ever pet portrait (and probably only the eighth or so dog I’ve drawn in my life, whoops). I’m really happy with this. 💜

A melancholy mouse from out of nowhere

I started doodling around with new brushes yesterday, did the background wash and the patch of grass, and then felt it needed a mouse. It looked really depressing until I added the little paper boat. It still feels a little morbid, but I like it.

Possibly inspired by the fact there is so. Much. Water around here. So, so much. You don't really want to do anything except sit on the sofa with some hot cocoa.

Finally finished this! I also managed to mark a hundred exams over the last two weeks, plus got two commissions done, and I‘m very proud of myself!

Again, I’ve seen this scene drawn half a dozen time all over the net, but I think this is the first where Orym is a halfling. 😂 Guys. How can that be so hard?

I could have just pretended I was drawing another Dorym kiss, but this is actually their first, canon, actual kiss.
Orym (hastily): "I don't know if we have twelve hours, or 24 hours, or no hours. I'm gonna kiss you now, can I kiss you?"
Dorian (slightly alarmed): "Oooh shit, yes!"

Also hilarious: Liam called Dorian "Dorym" by accident, much to the table's delight. XD

Okay, so after yesterday, I wondered, just how small would baby Orym be? The answer shocked even me.

I also can’t get over how he already totally looks like Orym here, including the trademark creased forehead 😭

Very happy with the finished version - I (barely) cleaned up the Lineart, slapped on a 60 minute colouring job and yay!

Orym and Derrig. Now Orym does look like a ten-year-old. 🥰

Info box for those not following Critical Role: Orym never knew his biological father, but he never really cared, because Derrig more than filled the gap. It was never said how Orym came to be part of a half-elven family of five (and going on to marry their youngest son), but he always talks about Derr...

And of COURSE, while I drew it, I watched the 4SidedDive where Marisha talked about the design choices that went into her updated design that I had completely ignored (and I hadn't been able to see it in the episode art anyway) and couldn't incorporate anymore. *sigh* Ah well. I like all that skin, too.

So Vax is free of his orb, but not of his duties, and the Raven Queen grants him one night with his friends before he has to return to her service. If the gods are even still around after that night, that is. 😳

I'm caaaaautiously opening commissions again for two or three slots, and I'm trying out my new fillable commission form!

Two changes to what the form says:
- pencil bust is just 150€. The 250 € price tag will give you a coloured piece.
- no prints at this time - I can no longer make them at home, so it's a lot of hassle to go to the shop and calibate them there. ;)
