I'm rendering an image now with SEVEN characters, their hair and clothing, accessories, etc, a crapload of environment and props (full restaurant, surrounding city, cars) and it rendered in only 17 minutes, and I'm only using 2/3 of the memory on the card!
Rendering a scene like this using the old card would probably have taken hours of reducing the size of texture files, turning off hidden geometry, multiple renders and postwork in Photoshop to stitch ...

I was hoping to get to the end of this final scene in chapter 1 before the update but I couldn't quite make it. In any case I'll certainly get there by the end of today or tomorrow. It's actually not a very interesting scene visually IMO. He's just walking to lunch while talking to Nina on the phone. Alright, we're into the last scene in chapter 1 now. I spent some time creating "extras" since the last scene has the MC walking on the city streets. Chapter 2 will introduce Kerren and more sex scenes, then end with the MC encountering Olivia all sweaty in workout clothes... and his own thoroughly-embarrassing erection! Don't have too much else to say, but we're flying along!

I had hoped to be done with the stills in this scene by today, but I ran into a weird problem that needed solving. Sometimes software can be extraordinarily frustrating. All of a sudden Olivia's eyes were rendering black. Mostly the iris (colored portion) but also to some extent in the sclera (white of the eye). Went through hours of troubleshooting and research to figure out what was going on. Nothing worked until finally I noticed a harmless setting on a light. Kind of setting that normally...

It's been challenging to give her an "olive" skin tone without going too far. Unfortunately, replacing all my fans (and adding one) did not improve the cooling. Same results. So I just ordered the best PC case for airflow optimization and 5 additional fans. All that is supposed to be here Wednesday.
I'll probably do something wacky like blow air into the current case with my electric fans across a tray of ice cubes to pound out a few renders so I have something to show you guys Tuesday.

Okay, so I've got my new graphics card, and it's every bit as awesome as I hoped! Received it yesterday and immediately installed and started working with it. Sooo much faster! Please understand that if your Patreon email is not a Google email, and so you need to request access to the Google Drive with a separate email account, I'll have to ask you a question to associate the two. These slow renders have been killing me. Plus, I reasoned that I'd eventually end up with this GPU card anyway, so why not get it now (I found one for a halfway-reasonable price). And I can re-sell my existing card as used and get a good chunk of this cost back. Should be here in about a week to a week and a half. Over $2400. I can justify that, can't I? Can't I?

Here are two renders from this new scene. I'm a bit frustrated right now with how slow these latest renders have been. When an image (actually called a scene in 3D world, though that's confusing since I've been using "scene" the same way it's used in a play or movie) is too large, your graphics card can't fit it all in it's memory. I hardly ever do renders of images that are "outside", or rather not enclosed by 4 walls and a ceiling, and when I do it's typically been a nighttime image, but with this scene I'm finally getting to do that. These images required a long setup time, but man when I rendered them, they were done in just 3-4 minutes, almost just seconds for a couple! Didn't get any actual renders done, since these scenes require creating whole new environments, which takes time. You probably saw my last post, showing the Doppler Financial building. No new renders since Friday, but a crapload of "Nina hair fix" renders done. Got a batch of 4 rendering now, and when they're done I'll have completed 21 of them, which is half of the 42 that need to be re-done. The image above is one of the ones with replaced hair.
