Yesod is one of the pieces I'm most proud of from this series, so I'm really happy to be offering it again. The Emanations  were a collaboration with Eli Minaya, who helped shaped the surreal look for the whole series.

Aquarius - Detail Phase

Today was supposed to be the deadline for this piece but it's not done yet. Despite having illness and holidays cut into my time this month, I decided to not lowball this one. Instead, I've laid out a painting that requires me to detail a large number of flowers, which require both lots of reference and precision. It's been going really well. The changes that have emerged over the last few days of work have made me really satisfied with what I've managed to get so far.

Angelarium: End of Year Update

As my holiday chest cold clears, it feels important to take a moment looking outside of my dark basement studio to assess the state of things. It’s as cold as the arctic outside and It’s going to be 2018 tomorrow. The cynic in me wants to say the New Year is arbitrary, but my better angels are pushing me to reflect on this past year, the way people tend to. Aquarius - Color Phase

Ah, rainbows. Everybody loves a rainbow :)

Aquarius - Concept Phase

Cambiel is an Angel I felt really strongly about getting right. The traits associated with Aquarius are ones I feel a strong bond to, so, I wanted to make sure I was doing the concept justice. Typically, the Aquarius is holding a water vessel of some sort but I thought that metaphor needed to get brought a little closer to home. Tl;DR Your pledges are going to increase in cost by an average of around $0.58 but it's going to directly benefit the creators you pledge to on Patreon.

Why you were charged twice this month

Hey guys,

There was a glitch in late September that pushed the pledges for Scorpio to come in a month late. Those charges just went out today.

If you pledged $10, here's how things look:

• August 1st - $10
• September 1st - $10

What's strange about the way this painting came together, was how much the values on the focal point changed this late in the process. I guess it still basically looks the same as it did, hopefully a bit "better", but the reason it looks better is not just because there is more detail.

Sagittarius - Color Phase

This color palette was a forgone conclusion. I always love an opportunity to do an open blue sky and trees. I'm looking at references from Glacier National Park specifically since that's where my old assistant Julie always talked about going hiking.

There are still lots of fixes and additions to make before I start tightening down the screws too much. For me, this is the best time to start picking reference and making plans on how to wrap up the whole piece in style.

I was hesitant about whether or not I wanted to make this angel resemble a centaur. What swayed me was looking into the history of centaurs. Reading into the subtext of them a little, what I realized they represented was that part of us that departs of society and returns to nature. This was such a perfect theme for Sagittarius, that I am building that theme throughout the painting. This one will ...
