Here's the backing track to for the Tremolo Picking, Part 2 video. The whole form repeats a few times, so play it as many times as you want. If you have the appropriate software (I tend to use something called Transcribe), you may be able to speed it up/slow it down to find the tempo that suits you're current level of ability.

Tab is below. The backing track coming up shortly in an audio post. (If you can think of a more FUN and imaginative title for the piece than 'Tremolo Picking Study' let me know and I'll change it!)

Greetings patrons!
I've looked at a lot of songs recently involving tremolo picking, and I though it might be interesting to take a more detailed look at this essential guitar technique. It's a technique that will be useful to you no matter what style of music you play. Here's a link to the video:

Below, I'm attaching a PDF and GP file of the FUN ex...

Afternoon all! The YouTube channel reached 100,000 subscribers this week, so to mark the occasion I thought I'd have a bit of fun by looking at the Radiohead track after which my channel is named. It's a nice, noisy indie song. In particular the Jonny Greenwood tremolo picked octave parts are lovely. It's kind of a tricky song to tab out, but I've done my best to notate the most interesting stuff - PDF and GP files attached below.
And here's the link to the video:

Hello beautiful patrons!
I get quite a lot of requests for Pixies songs but until now I've not got round to looking at any of their songs in a video. So here's my take on Debaser. It's another chance for me to use the Les Paul, and we have also have a nice Telecaster rhythm part too. Here's the link:

I've made a little backing track for this week's video. It's not perfect, but I hope it'll be fun for you to play along to. The structure is exactly the same as the studio recording. Hope you all have a good week. Speak next Friday,

Evening all! This week's video continues the Les Paul theme with a look at a T.Rex classic. There's a lovely riff, some inventive rhythm playing and a surprisingly tasty solo. Here's the link:

The tab can be found below. I've written out the main parts, the solo and included a few of my favourite lead guitar fills. The backing trac...

Hello all! I have a psych rock classic for you today from The 13th Floor Elevators. I've been listening to quite a bit of Elevators music recently following the sad death of their singer Roky Erickson, and I thought I'd do a video on one of their best-know songs. Here's a link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRCJqd2loYI
It's fun and pretty easy to play so I hope most of you will be able to have a ...

Last week I posted the backing track for the entire song, but I thought it might be nice to a have another backing with just the solo chords so you can focus entirely on that if you want to. I've just looped the end section chords.
If you're not ready to tackle the actual solo you can always use the track to improvise along to at whatever level you're at. Beginners, just find B minor pentatonic in the 7th position and go for it...
Have fun. Speak next week,

Afternoon all! Today I'm bringing you Part 1 of an epic look at the Bowie's Moonage Daydream. This one was lots of fun to put together. In the first video I'm looking at the rhythm guitar parts, then next week - if I can manage to learn it properly - I'll be looking at the solo.

Morning all! As a follow up to last week's video, today I'm looking at how Johnny Thunders plays Pipeline. Here's a link to the video:

Hello all! In today's video I'm looking at Pipeline by 60s surf combo The Chantays. Once again this is a lesson prompted by a request from one of you lovely patrons (thanks for the idea Jeff!) It's a great instrumental piece to know and - as I say in the video - it will also give your tremolo picking technique a real workout.
I'm attaching tab PDFs and Guitar Pro files below. There are two versions of the tab: one showing both rhythm and lead guitar parts separately as on the original r...

I've been wanting to look at more Graham Coxon for a while, and prompted by a request from one of you lovely patrons a couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd have a go at the title track from Blur's classic 1994 album, released 25 years ago last month. Morning all! I have a classic bit of 90's indie for you today. Sheela-Na-Gig by PJ Harvey. If you're unfamiliar with her music do check it out - she's made many great records. This song is taken from her first album. It's reasonably easy to play I think, but still a bit of a challenge to play it as well as she does on the original record. If you enjoy this one, I can do more later in the year. Any other PJ songs you'd like to see me look at? Here's a link to the vid, and the tab and GP file a...

As promised, here's the backing track for this week's lesson. It's a bit rough and ready, but I hope it will be fun to play along to. There's a drum intro and then the bass and synth enter like at the start of the video. And I've looped the whole thing to make it longer. If you want to download it you should be able to click on the file above and save it. Have fun, and speak next week.

Morning all! I thought I'd look at a classic today. I've long been a fan of r&b/soul-type rhythm playing, and Reggie Young is one of the finest exponents of that particular style. Morning all! It's been a while since I've done a blues-based video, so this week I thought I'd talk about some of my favourite ways to break out of that minor pentatonic soloing rut that many players find themselves in. The first half is giving you a bit of theory, and then in the second part we have some luscious licks. Here's a link to the video:

Hello patrons! Bad news is I've been a bit unwell this week (some kind of virus, but nothing too serious) and I've not been in a fit state to make any new videos. Morning all. In today's video I'm looking at the song West Germany by the influential 80s punk band Minutemen. If you're unfamiliar with the band I recommend taking a listen to their epic 1984 album Double Nickels on the Dime.
