Today, I’m exploring reverb techniques in Bitwig Studio using built-in tools and creative routing to craft unique reverbs without relying on external VSTs. These methods range from manipulating the standard Reverb device to advanced combinations with Convolution Reverb, Delay+, and FX Grid.
Reverb Techniques & Tips
I made a new generative patch today, using the stereo cords feature to send different pitches and gate information to the left and right channels, feeding oscillators. The FX section uses a convolution I sampled from Valhalla Supermassive combined with the stock reverb. I also added some frequency and pitch shifters for modulation and grainy FX. You can download the patch for free on my GitHub repo.
Today, I’m sharing updates to two of my most-used presets: Hard Clip and Auto Level, both designed to improve workflow in Bitwig Studio. These updates add more functionality, clarity, and usability. All updated presets are free to download - links are at the end of the post.
Hard Clip Updates
Today, I explored the new Freq Shifter+ in Bitwig Studio, focusing on its creative uses in drum and bass production. It’s not just a simple frequency shifter—it’s a versatile tool for risers, modulation effects, and unique sound design. I’ll show you how to use it on both your master channel and individual bass sounds for interesting results.
Key Points:
A new generative Bitwig Grid patch! This one came out of the last tutorial and plays three oscillators. I’m using Scrawl as a note sequencer and the stereo split trick to create multiple melodies with a single oscillator.
Today, I explored the new Step Access module in Bitwig Studio 5.3, which simplifies creating polyrhythms, polymeters, and euclidean sequences in the Grid. Previously, this required complex patching, but now it’s streamlined. I combined it with other modules, like Pitches, to create intricate patterns and explored how its stereo and voice stacking capabilities open up unique possibilities.

Thanks, first of all, for all the feedback on my last post where I asked what kind of content you’d like to see. One of the main points, of course, was longer courses—for example, on The Grid, Bitwig, or how to make music in general. That’s something I’ve been planning for a long time but haven’t gotten around to because I’m constantly making tutorials or YouTube videos every few days.
However, creating full courses—from A to Z, Zero to Hero—is definitely something I wan...

I demonstrated a creative and hands-on workflow for making organic, dynamic sounds using Bitwig (or any DAW) and plugins like Phase-4. The approach involves automation recording, tweaking parameters on the fly, and adding imperfections for a natural, "alive" feel. I showed how to record automation in real-time with shortcuts, touch automation modes, and iterative modulation for basslines and effects. The process is intuitive, keeps you in the flow, and avoids over-precise, grid-locked sounds....

In this video, I explore the new Cubase 14 update, especially focusing on its ability to work with the DAWPROJECT file format. DAWPROJECT, developed by Bitwig and others, is an open-source format for transferring projects between DAWs. I’m testing it here by exporting a Bitwig project, then importing it into Cubase to see what translates well and what doesn’t.
While it’s promising, there are some limitations with how different elements (like stretch modes and automation) import. ...

I want to show you a fun experiment I tried over the weekend. I started with a basic A minor piano loop—just a sample, not note-based, so it has a set harmonic structure. Since it's in A minor, it's easy to play along with, but I wanted to take it in a different direction: more dissonant or "horror" sounding.
To achieve this, I used Bitwig’s frequency shifter. Unlike a pitch shifter, the frequency shifter shifts all frequencies by a fixed amount, making the sound disharmonic by thro...

Hey folks, welcome back! This video builds on yesterday’s, where I rediscovered an old but trusty plugin. Sometimes I stray towards newer, flashier tools, but I always find myself coming back to certain classics for their unique features. Today, I’m working with a simple kick-and-snare loop that needs some texture and top-end, so I’ll layer it with another drum loop using an EQ technique to handle overlapping frequencies.
Lately, instead of my go-to Ozone Match EQ, I’ve...

In this video, I explore the Unfilter plugin and how it goes beyond its usual use for reducing unwanted resonances in audio tracks. While I often use Unfilter to “clean up” audio, I recently discovered a feature that lets me export the unique resonance profile of a sound as an impulse response. This can be applied to another sound, helping two recordings “glue” together as if they were recorded in the same room. Here’s how this process works and some ideas for its crea...

In this video, I dive into Snapback by Cableguys, which is great for layering sounds on drum triggers in a dynamic way. Snapback detects drum hits, like a snare, and triggers samples that can layer on top or before the sound. I also go over how you can replicate this in Bitwig Studio using a custom preset with the Replacer tool, for those who want a native solution.
Here’s a breakdown:

I recently got my hands on the Ripple Delay plugin by Process Audio and wanted to share my thoughts. This isn’t a tutorial where I break down every parameter; instead, I’m focusing on experimenting with its features.
Ripple Delay lets you bring delay times down to one millisecond, and when combined with feedback loops, it essentially becomes a resonator. The most interesting feature is that you can place effects like filters and phasers inside the feedback loop, allowing you to cr...

Hey folks! XLN Audio just released a new update for Addictive Drums 2, and it’s the biggest one I’ve seen in years. The update is free, and you just need to use the XLN Audio updater to get it. What’s great is that they didn’t overhaul everything but kept the layout familiar while improving graphics and adding useful features.
The new look aligns with their XO drum sequencer, and the biggest change for me is the rescaling option – finally, it works great on 4K screens! A lot o...

New experiment! In this video, I’m discussing how many music producers, myself included, sometimes get stuck in cycles of perfectionism and overthinking during music production. This often happens when we spend too long tweaking sounds, mixdowns, or mastering, which can ultimately make things worse instead of better. My approach is to set internal time limits, keeping the flow of creativity alive without overanalyzing. I reflect on how technical skills should come natu...
