Stream Deck Video

I'm going to leave the stream deck video here on Patreon for you guys, but it has been pulled from Youtube and Odysee. Apparently my zip code appears in it. And while it doesn't take a lot of work to discover where I live, I didn't really feel comfortable keeping that online. Though, admittedly, it was probably too late anyways.

Hope everyone has a good week,

Is Telemetry Okay?

On this one, Matt and Tyler talk about everything. We run the gamut from subscription fatigue to Mint being Mint to Gentoo to Telemetry and Audacity. It's a long wild ride, so buckle up.

Also, sorry that the audio isn't as good as normal. We had some OBS problems.

Content Poll 7-14-21

The audacity post from last week's poll will arrive next week. The Sway one I'm going to start working on today, though IDK if it will get done today or not. If it does, it will be Monday's video.

What would you like to see on the channel coming up?

Discord, anybody?

Call this a test balloon, but whatever. Is anyone here interested in me setting up a discord server? I don't honestly know if it would be worth it. I mean, I assume everyone here is probably a member of like dozens of servers already. Would you even want one more?

If so, I guess I'll set one up. I'd probably also set up discord roles for you guys, though honestly I have no idea how to even go about doing that.

Anyways, let me know if you're interested. Then maybe I'll put up...

WTF Matt? What's going on with Early Access

One of the perks I have for those of you on the upper tiers is early access to some videos. It's not a perk that I've been very good at delivering recently, and I'm sorry for that.

What I thought I'd do is talk a little about whats going on and what's preventing me from delivering some videos early.

The main crux of the issue is that I've had so many computer problems over the last month that getting ahead has been impossible. I think I've got them mostly solved now, but I'm still...

Bash Challenge, Linux Problems and More

So this blog post is going to be a bit all over the place. It seems that I couldn't settle on one topic, so I will just smash them all in here. It'll probably be incoherent like normal, so win?

The first thing to talk about is the upcoming Bash Challenge for the pod. I have two problems with it (Despite it being my own damn idea). I need an idea of what to do. That's the first challenge. It needs to be useful and not based on something that I've done before. The next part will actually ...

Why Isn't Linux Popular in the USA - Or Is It?

This is a wild one, folks. Matt and Tyler talk about all sorts of things. They start off with a bitch session about Gnome. Then move on to talking about why there seems to be a divide between the level of interest in Linux and Open Source in America and Europe.

Computer Problems. Linux Sucks

For the last three weeks, I've had nothing but problems when it comes to my computer. This has led me to hop a couple of times, after I've spent hours (and a couple of days, really) trying to figure out what the hell is going on with my computer.

For anyone who watched the stream on Sunday night, you know that I'm very frustrated. It ruined that entire stream.

So this is my way of saying, sorry, I know there haven't been as many videos as I'm usually putting out. I'm w...

The Gentoo Experience

I don't know how many of my Patrons managed to catch that last stream, but man did that take everything out of me.

I installed Gentoo. Or more accurately, I tried to install Gentoo. It didn't work, but I got a lot further than I thought I would. So I guess that's a win.

But goodness, did that whole stream just make me exhausted. I keep trying to think of a scenario where I would try to install Gentoo again, and I can't do it.

I have a lot of subscribers that want...

Learning to Code & Installing Gentoo

One of the things that I've wanted to do for a long while, is learn to code. I don't really have any ambition to code for a living or anything like that. I just want to do it as a hobby because it sounds like it could be fun.

As I talked about on the stream yesterday, I think that I've decided on Python as my first full on language (though Bash is going to be happening alongside it). Mostly, I chose Python because there are a lot of free courses out there and I don't really want t...

The Transfer to VimWiki

For the last year, or so, I've been using Zim for all of my note taking needs, and it has been great. Honestly, there's no reason for me to switch away from it other than I'm trying to consolidate my apps a bit.

So, I've switched to VimWiki. The only issue is that I really want to take all of my zim notes and put them in one of my vimwilkis, but it doesn't seem possible without copying and pasting them one by one into vimwiki. That is just not going to happen as I have like 1000 differe...

I'm using Xmonad Again

I'll probably do a video on xmonad again, but I wanted to talk about this here. This morning I decided that I was going to give xmonad another try. I don't know why other than I was really bored and was desperately looking for something to do a video on. I started off with my own config, the one I was using when I left xmonad 19 days ago. But soon I needed scratch...

Starting on my Kitty Journey And Thoughts on Alacritty

Sometime next month, I'll be making a video about using the Kitty terminal. I just installed it last night and I've got it themed now.

My thoughts so far is that I miss Alacritty's auto update feature where you make a change to your config and it updates automatically. Going away from that is like going back in time and trying to update xresources. It's kind of painful.

I guess I need to see what is so special about kitty that so many people think it's a good alternative to Alacri...
