Hi everyone. Even if you don't want to be a songwriter, I think its incredibly important to be able to write something - a chord progression, a melody, a cool lead guitar part, an interesting rhythm part, etc.
I have an idea. Why don't I take some songs and break them down to their basic elements - chord progressions - guitar parts - bass lines - rhythms - drum parts - vocal melody - lyrics and discuss how they all fit together in music theory and composition terms and maybe go into a l...

I don't quite know if this counts as songwriting, but I'm certainly writing something. This one is less of a lesson and more of a "hey here is a fun thing - ask questions if you wanna learn how to do this kind of thing!"

This week we focus on some ideas to help those who might be struggling with fingerpicking. I was struggling with talking during this video so hopefully you get some good stuff out of it.

I love Logic Pro X. This is a pretty vulnerable video showing how I get things going - sometimes it goes smoothly and sometimes its a struggle. This isn't designed to be a finished song. Also, I'm still getting stuff figured out so pardon a few camera angles being missing. I'm rethinking how I film these so the guitar wi...

This Patreon has given me something to do while I'm quarantined and I feel like its going to be fun. Hopefully you're enjoying it as well.
I'm getting the sense that a lot of people have burning questions about soloing in particular - how music theory relates to the scales and chords and things in a solo - what to do. I mentioned th...

After much consideration, I decided to take this lesson down.
If you'd like to learn more about why I took this lesson down, keep reading. If you'd rather move on to the next Music Theory Monday lesson, lesson 3 is the perfect lesson to watch after lesson 1 - this second lesson was out of sequence anyway!

Hi everyone. I created this Patreon to have a little community of guitar players who are looking to improve. Since everyone is probably in a slightly different place in their guitar journey, I'll be scheming some ways to make content that is helpful for everyone but possibly more helpful to specific players depending on the video.
What would be helpful for me is if you all can comment your goals, your interests, your experience level, and what you hope to get out of this Patreon thing.<...

Oh and no, my pinky was not bleeding. It was paint. My roommates and I are getting real bored with this COVID isolation and my pinky nail was painted.
Anyway, in this video I'm touching on some ways for Roy to think about muting the low three strings while playing the top three. Please comment if you have more ques...

Getting started with Garageband as a songwriting tool - or just a fun way to make music. I didn't even plug in a guitar and it was super fun. Comment all your questions please!
