When listener Jeffrey wrote in to tell us that he had read the first six books in the Miranda Hathaway Adventures series in order to prepare for The Quilters Push Back, we knew we had to talk to him. We had so many questions about what had happened in the series up to this point, and man did Jeff deliver!
Get the scoop on Miranda's former husband, fluxuations in the series horniness levels, and Max Ryan Jr. Retcons. All sorts of reveals and answers take place here, so OF COURSE a ...

Mike here: I'm not suggesting you wade through this madness, I just want to point out a curious phenomenon. After we did a RiffTrax for a Whizzo's Christmas Circus we had to provide a transcript of the whole thing to the various video platforms our stuff lives on. I got my hands on it and immediately recorded it ala "an actor's monologue." I stuck it up and YouTube and didn't give it a second thought (I have nothing else up on that account.)
Anyway, once, perhaps twice a week I...

It's with wet eyes that we bid farewell to the land of wrongly timed barbecue, snippy and/or flirty waitresses, violent drug-pushing teacher/furniture store managers, open bathrobes, four star generals, evil interstates and very occasionally, some quilting.
In this episode, the shockingly violent yet cozy story of Bigelow Cozy Chamomile tea! Conor imitates a cat no fewer than four times and sings Van Morrison in the voice of Handsome Gabe. Mike hires the 372 Players at great cost ...

With all the Jeopardy viewing in QPB, we thought it was only appropriate to re-visit Conor's greatest shame. So come watch along as Conor provides commentary and Mike probably makes fun of him.
We'll be doing this on Scener TOMORROW, April 7 at 8 Eastern. Scener allows in sync watch parties of videos. Free to watch and chat, but you should probably create an account ahead of time. Drop a comment if you have any questions!

The task: announce book number sixteen. Forty-seven minutes later the job is done! Why? Because Conor and Mike are incredibly enthusiastic about the new title. I mean, one of our favorite "Real or FanFics" before we even crack the book open?!
This is going to be great!
(We'll put in all the links we just don't want any spoilers for a bit.)
EDIT: OK, so we're reading thru Chapter 10 and you can find the book 2021-03-18 15:00:59 +0000 UTC

Don't worry about it, you'll live! If you've never heard of Vladimir Horowitz feel no shame but also know he was the probably the greatest pianist of the 20th century (we'll not fight about that here, just please acknowledge that a lot of learned people think that!)
We'll be talking about Domenico Scarlatti and a few of his pieces that Vlad unearthed. So good.

On Friday, for some reason a bunch of people decided to watch FANBOYS, a movie that Ernest Cline wrote. We noted the subtle Star Wars and Rush allusions, made bets about celebrity cameos, and learned an exciting new term: "sweater yams."
If you want to recreate the experience on your own, here's the audio!

Long before we'd ever spent a couple pages on that treehouse planet where Wade cried for some reason, Ernest Cline wrote a movie called Fanboys, and wow. The few lines of dialogue we've seen from it would have been universally guessed as over the top Fanfic (not to be confused with Over The Top Fanfic, where we ship Hawk(s) and The Smasher)
We're going to watch it over Zoom, there will be a chat going, maybe we'll pause for a Q&A, and we hope you will join us.
When: Friday, M...

An epic podcast! Mike and Conor discuss the deep philosophical implications of Van Hagar, of avatars putting on haptic suits, of the personification of the collective intelligence of all humanity saying things like, "You're not gonna win, doofus!"
Cline was always in way over his head (from the second he thought to himself, "Hey, I should write a book", of course), but when he moves away from listing his favorite video games and 80s songs into the realm of gigantic action scenes and the...

It's time once again to meet an Author whose works we just don't have time to cover on the main podcast. Conor is joined by Bob Fingerman to explore the works and worldview of Dandy Deodato-Fitzgibbons who is a fan of Italian Grade-Z cinema and... well, shall we say not so much a fan of Conor and Mike's work at RiffTrax.

Yeah, that's the kind of humor you're going to get from the Michael J. Nelson's Classical Mini.
But please don't tune out without at least giving a thought to the most astonishing, perplexing, infuriating, fascinating, mysterious work that Beethoven ever produced.

If you had taken a second mortgage on your home and placed the entire sum on a Vegas bet that "nothing in this book could possibly be worse than the chapters spent on the John Hughes planet" I am sorry and I hope you can find another home. Because the chapters on the Prince and Silmarillion planets are not only worse, they are the worst things ever created by humankind, and that includes all of our wars and the invention of hot pincer-based torture.
