Even hours later, we still sit there, back after two more rounds of making more pancakes and getting some drinks to go with them. Chocolate milk, for example, or some fancy brands of freshly pressed fruit juices whose names I can’t even read.
At some point, we take off our shoes and walk into the sea and let the waves wash over us as we wade there. My mom shows me her favorite places and spots where she saw whales far in the distance. She talks about sailing on a smaller boat and how ...

As per the last messages I sent to Earth, I learn my mom is currently on a nice tropical island that I reach by ramping up the use of kinetic energy. During my flight, I notice fighter jets in the distance, but they disappear quickly before I can fly toward them and check them out up close.
But the closer I am to my destination, the more I notice myself slowing down. When I see the island in my view, my speed is barely faster than a car and slow down even further.
My destination i...

“So, how does it look here on Earth so far?” I ask. To not waste any time, I start manifesting and weaving together weapons made of manabloc that I put on the floor.
“Please make some simple square plates, cubes, and orbs, I’m selling these, and pass some to scientists I hire,” Channeler says as he sees that. “I would say it goes as well as it can in the current situation. Sure, they try to control us, but they have a smart person or two who realizes it will be near impossib...

After exiting the bus, I move through the city. I either stretch Ley Lines or use Wraith Dance to pass miles upon miles in mere seconds. With the city I grew up in as a base for comparison, my abilities feel incredible. The street that took so long to pass now requires just a mere second, and the hour-and-a-half-long bus travel is barely longer than that.
Finally, I come to a stop and look around a small park I start walking through. Though Earth is awakening, and there must be rumors, ...

When the fight ends, the wall on the side of Nathaniel's room explodes, and I see his figure step through before using that kinetic movement to appear near us.
We don't say anything, and neither does he, as he looks us over. Then he lies down on the ground before saying, "Lily, I might need a bit of help over here."
The body upgrade that he seemed to have gradually gotten under control now, for some reason, ravages his body again.

The flash blinds me, and I observe the rest with my other senses. The initial fireball heats up, reaching a temperature I cannot even grasp properly. It quickly grows, surrounding both of us and reaching further. Everything inside of it is set ablaze.
I grab currents of heat from the explosion in between us. It is the hottest I have dealt with until now, and dealt is a strong word. Thankfully, there is no need to deal with a body upgrade if you almost do not have a body.

Another piece of metal ore gets pulled into Jean's hand, and he throws it. It breaks through the barriers, slowing down a little, and even then, the fire shield melts it into glowing liquid metal, which drops and falls across Sophie's body, burning through her skin.
The same happens with another, bigger piece, and liquid metal splashes across Sophie's face, burning her lips and chin.
Jean throws Blackie away again, and while pulling the piece of stone Sophie is on, he continues to...

The first person to challenge Lily is another thylarin with six arms. In each of his hands, he holds a dagger. There is no waiting either, the fight starts right away in a sudden burst of speed.
The arena is still the same, a huge floating island with a few dozen more islands of various sizes floating around it. Some of them are connected to the main one with long vines, others float there freely. Some hold forests, others mountains, and some flatland with lush grass. It is all high in ...

One of the first people to return from the event is Tess, who cleared her dungeon with Maya. Coming to the area, she halts in her steps, seeing us resting there against Wolfy's slowly moving belly as he breathes. Her disciple is sleeping, and her tiny arms are put over my chest in what almost looks like she is hugging something in her sleep.
I would throw millions of people off the balcony for her.
"Tess, if you wake her up, I promise I will become your worst enemy," I say softly ...

From the kids, I learn that it is possible to summon a personal screen to watch the event. It is even possible to filter out people to watch the person you want. So, of course, I now sit outside, resting against the side of Wolfy and surrounded by kids, Lily on one side and Biscuit, who, even this time, does not participate in the event.
Same as that black-haired bulldozer, the corgi stays in the common area, and even for the same reason, though he is not as forceful about it as she is....

The third event starts, leaving the disciples behind while their masters enter inside. The minion tournament should take place before the last event, with me still wondering if the black wolf will participate.
I do not enter this event, as I do not want to be kicked out right away, and it seems like Lily doesn’t participate either. The very same who had promised me she would join it now remains behind inside of the barrier with me.

During my wait for the next event, I am interrupted by a bus-sized, pitch-black wolf with not a single hair of a different color. Only his eyes are golden, shining with deep intelligence. I get a feeling from him, not dissimilar from Biscuit, just much weaker, even now.
Biscuit's disciple appears in the common area the same way many other disciples do, as people summon them thanks to their rewards from the previous events.
There is obvious screaming and all that stuff, but most of...

When Nathaniel returns to the common area, he immediately sits down.
At first, nothing happens, he simply sits there, dealing with his body upgrade. But after a few seconds, his shoulders begin to shake. A moment later, he coughs, and a bit of his blood sprays onto the ground beneath him.
I do not step in, but I worry that he may have wounded himself too much again and is in pain. That thought disappears when I realize what is actually happenin...

The location of the first event is huge. It is entirely flat land covered with ruins, stretching as far as I can see from the screen. These ruins are not the remains of buildings, but of some sort of gigantic structures. Some resemble pillars, others are broken arches, or, most strangely, an enormous cube broken apart.
Both the Earthlings and our opponents are spread all over. They are not separated, the humans are mixed with the tall, blue, multi-armed thylarin from a planet I have lea...

This tournament has only four events over the duration of five days. It is less than before, and the tournament is shorter too.
What I keep thinking of is that the fact that it is impossible to die during events might push the planets to fight against each other. I would not be surprised if this entire setup is designed so that we attack each other. Us being on two separate floating islands clearly hints at that. All paired with the fact that people can die outside the events.
It ...

I watch as the back of that transparent figure over him splits, and two more arms grow from it. Both reach toward me, pushing through the torrent of my mana and thermal energy, until they touch my shoulders. For the remaining hours, I keep watching the event and come to the realization of what the Ruler of Humility likely wanted to show us. Most of the assholes on the screen are out of their depth. They are slow, they do not handle pain that well, and they are unused to their bodies being so weak. Though as time goes on, everyone keeps improving as they adapt. After all, all of them are Hell difficulty and Beyonders, so it would be lame if they did not adjust.

We now have the best doggo of Beyond.

I blink. He blinks.
