Hi everyone,
I hope you're doing well! I wanted to show you the sketch for my next piece, it will most likely be set on a sunny afternoon somewhere in the countryside of Argenta.
Looking forward to making the atmosphere wide and deep, showing the ability to "breathe" when you stand in such a place.
Have a great week!
Best,
Simon

Hi everyone!
This is the home of a woodcarver - a girl that started carving small toys for children, yet soon realised her passion to carve out intricate figures that now get bought mainly by rich merchants or even aristocrats. Lately, she has been doing a lot ornament carvings into the doorframes of some of their houses as well.
Though her friends like to visit her even if they can't get one of her precious creations (with some people being the rare exception that get gifted one of...

Hi everyone!
Felt the need for some escapism again, so here we are at another painting of a small secluded home ^^
I've always loved foundling stones like these, looking forward to paint again what I love to paint the most - rocks and trees, it somehow always returns to those two.
Anyways, wishing you an amazing week, take care!

Hi everyone!
First of all, thank you for another month of supporting my art and falling through this world with me! 🌿
I actually dropped the idea of the ship in this one - it came down to what I feared in the sketch - it took away too much from the main focal point in this painting. As this painting certainly isn't about a conflict or competing, I wanted it to have one single focus.
Besides this, in mid painting, I actually merged all my layers together and worked o...

Hi everyone!
Really looking forward to painting this one, it will have one of these moods that the weather is rather grey, yet some sun breaks through. I kind of grew to love these moods, and I'm looking forward to giving the cliffs different subtle colors!
I want to be careful about the ship of the emissary though, as it is always dangerous to have to two spots in the painting compete with each other. That balance of importance is rather hard to pull off, but we'll see. It would cer...

Hi everyone!
A new artwork appears! I guess it was fun to paint, but somehow I ended up having the most fun with the clouds, sea and plants. I guess the thing that I really want to paint is mostly nature. I hope you still like it though ^^
No idea yet on what to paint next, but it will probably be a bit more gloomy again. Also, once it starts snowing here, I'll probably want to paint snow again.
Have a nice week!

Hi everyone!
Here is your new wallpaper pack, enjoy!
I particularly like the one with the tiny tower on the cliff, as it gives me a feeling of secluded freedom and vastness of the earth!
It's getting cold here, I might paint a snowy landscape again in December, looking forward to the first snow.
Thank you for being here - have a nice week!

Hi everyone!
Really struggled to find some ideas that seemed worth to paint this time, yet finally found something!
Still thinking about adding a huge chalk cliff in the background, but definitely happy with where this is going.
Hope you have a great week!
Simon
P.S.: will add another wallpaper pack soon!

The Stones of Efferd are widely known for their beauty and treasured stones used for jewelry as well as woven into clothes.
They are sometimes found by the riverpeople, and are said to be gifts from Efferd, god of the rivers. Some believe they are the tears of his daughter Eelya, who has lost her loved one to the sea.
Hi everyone, Simon here. Really happy with how this one turned out, it seemed so bland when just looking the sketch, but I saw that it has potential. I feel like I'v...

Hi everyone!
This one might look a bit boring right now, but I'm still on my quest to upgrade my colour understanding, and want to really pay attention to details. I don't think I've ever painted something this close to the viewer, and I'm looking forward to get some warm candlelight in there!
The stones will be of a kind of translucent blue tone and be hit with the candlelight. This will probably get really dark before I add the light, but it gives me time to paint all the co...

Hi everyone!
Really proud of this one - feels like I got a better colour understanding, and at the same time more freedom with it, as rocks don't really usually look like this. I love the contrast of warm to cool colours though.
This started as a painting with a high format (as you can see in the sketch I posted a few days ago), however midprocess I just had to change it. I guess that says something about the need to plan more before actually starting, which is something...

Hi everyone! I love the idea, but am still completely lost regarding to what kind of weather and vibe I want this to have^^
As this is something that I should definitely decide on and know before diving into the painting, I'll have to restrain myself and not go in too deep too soon.
We'll see if an idea somehow gets to me, until then, I'll focus (as always) to understand colour better.
Hope you're having a great week!

Finished this one rather fast, as it is only 200x140px big. As you can see, I ditched the idea of the cottage mid-painting and decided to create a smaller, more mundane hut.
The week has been rather slow so far, I have caught Covid again, but feel fine now after 1-2 days of being sick.
Looking forward to paint some more tomorrow now that I feel fine again.
Take care.

Loving the feel of this one - having a cottage tucked in between hills and woods.
This one will have a really low resolution again, as I want to really focus on the colours and values here and improve this area of the skill.
Will get back to you soon! Thank you so much for your ongoing support!

Hi everyone!
It has been way too long - finally a new artwork appears. I am not so busy with commissions anymore that I can't do personal art at all - I'll take way less of them in the future and be way more picky about them.
This is one of a few temples for Praios, one of the 12 old gods.
Looking forward to paint more of what my heart wants to get on the canvas, and not my wallet. I hope you enjoy as well!

I want to thank you dearly for sticking with me!

Hi everyone!
I have read the Hobbit again, and was so smitten with the thought of an entrance to a mountain (Erebor) that I decided to change the background of this one. I wasn't too happy with it, and even id that means that I have to delete what I painted so far (I already painted the whole background, it's the thing I always start with), it is worth the effort. Looking forward to this one, not too many pixels in here (the shorter side being only 180 of them, but I want to make a lea...

Hi everyone!
Somehow, the fever for standing stones really caught on to me^^ This will be a piece that won't be really interesting in it's subject, but I plan to learn a lot with this one one how to get better with contrast and colours, as everything here is pretty subtle from that viewpoint.
I recently became fascinated with the technique of 'Chiaroscuro', used since the renaissance and basically putting light against dark (or the other way around) where you want the viewer t...

Hi everyone!
Thank you so much for your patience! I am still here, and I'm still creating personal art. I took on way too many commissions now that I reduced the workload of my dayjob, and pretty much had to invest all of my time into finishing the commissions within the deadlines. I made a promise to myself now that I will only take on commissions that pay me really well from now on, and have already raised my prices.
In the end, I do art because I love it, and doing too many c...

Hi everyone!
As the exploration of the colour notes in my last piece with the chalk coast really sparked a flame in me, I thought to make the next piece inherently pretty "grey", only to then have the chance to play with all the colour variations that such cliffs and rocks have.
It is also quite the daring composition - I don't think I've ever attempted something with such a clear leaning towards a side of the canvas, but I really want to communicate that vastness.
Really lo...

Hi everyone!
This looks a lot different from my other paintings - I tried to learn more about colour and values, and it turned out to be almost impressionistic in its nature.
This is an entrance to the Empress' garden. They are so far and wide that some of it could be wilderness as well were it not protected by great walls. Not many people know of this place, yet the few who do enjoy coming here.
I'll finish my commissions as soon as possible and return to my personal wo...

Hi everyone!
Been loving this idea so far - I'm a bit scared that the chalk cliffs will look a bit bland, but at the same time that is exactly why I did this as it will challenge me to use more values and different colours in the walls, as such stone cliffs are never just white, but have LOTS of colour tones.
As you're probably aware of by now, I really like these secluded places that are half hidden from sight. This hidden valley makes me want to wander around in the forest there, ...

Hi!
Here it is, and it feels like it has been a step into the right direction.
I deliberately used a not too big of a canvas (316x256 pixels) in order to learn more about the values of all colours. Needing to focus on even less pixels leads to each pixel being more important in terms of readability, and I think I managed to learn something there.
By the way, I stumbled (completely by chance) over a new process to paint the clouds, a process that has always bugged me un...

Hi everyone!
Really looking forward to this one, I LOVE settings, artworks, photos or even architecture that has a kind of tight space that opens up into a broad one to create a pull like you're in a bottleneck and want to get forward - to jump, to run into the scene in front of you!
It is exactly this feeling that I want to to with this coastal scene, as if we're returning home to our small village.
Looking forward to share the full artwork with you!
Take care.

Hi everyone!
Really had a lot of fun with this one, the small track adds so much! First I had planned to just make it a path in the grass, but then the space in front of the door challenged me to do more than just grass, as this wouldn't make too much sense.
I absolutely love these cottages that have kind of a 'second floor' that is really small, reachable only through a ladder and warm because it's under the roof. This piece also let me explore the flowers and just more texture...

Hi everyone!
Got a new sketch ready, and it will be kind of moody again, probably with some warm lights in the windows of this tiny cottage. On the left side you'll see a small creek.
I'm looking forward to tackle the weather, it is hard to use these more subtle colours that moody weather like this produces.
Talk to you soon, we've got another wallpaper pack coming up!

Hi everyone!
You might be thinking "that was fast!" and you're right ^^ I didn't expect to finish this as fast as well, but here we are.
This is one of a few dozen Lunar Temples on the coasts of Argenta - usually, every bigger island has at least one of them. The sketch for this one was really rough on purpose - I like exploring it this way, not locking in concepts too early while still being able to see if the whole thing will fly or not.
I hope you feel the same kind o...

Hello!
Always loved the idea of these secluded little places, and I definitely want to challenge myself with the moonlight in this one.
I wanted to also show you the first sketch so that you can see how rough these actually are^^
Excited to finish this one and solve all these little problems that will probably spring up with these strong shadows.

I'm back! My eyes are healing up really well, I can't help but to really feel grateful for my bodies healing abilities!
Anyways, I hope you like this one, it felt a bit like another 'breakthrough piece'.
These are the white shores of Anemnas, an island that is highly regarded for its beautiful gems.
Two weeks of free time ahead of me, looking forward to paint and play games a lot!
Talk to you soon with a new sketch, thanks for being here...
