i just ordered a new pc. its a AMD Ryzen 5 with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Super. so its not the fastest one, but at least i can do something again. it should be here tomorrow, so if nothing goes wrong, i can do 3d again starting from fryday on!
my very old pc has had its best time too, the display driver keeps messing up and crashes every 10 minutes orso, and it becomes more frequent the more i put it under stress, which makes it really annoying to work on.
my work station pc is now on location at hp. so lets wait and see how fast they can come up with a solution to fix it.
i miss doing 3d :(

this is a vray render, rendered in 3d max. this is the most i can do now, if put more complicated shaders or more geometry in the scene, the display driver crashes, and just stops responding.

yesterday night a had a big crash again, and ended up with the same problem i had a few months back
my c and d drive have been switched and nothing is working anymore, so this morning i went to my fix guy with the pc, but he couldnt fix it
so now the pc will be picked up tomorrow, and send to hp and hopefully they can fix it. this will take them 3 to 8 weeks.
im setting up the old pc again so i can at least do a little bit of rendering, but there is not really a lot i can do now :(
ill keep you guys posted

figured out the diffuse problem, i was just being stupid, its not that hard to do, and now we have black stitching. also found out how to render in substance painter using iray.
i can see why daz is moving to 8k maps. you can do so much small details then. these are 4k maps and the stitching is kinda blurry, but in 8k it will all look so sharp and nice

trying to figure out how to do the stitching and a seamless lace in substance painter.
the stitching as far as the normal and bump go, is pretty easy, no idea how to add a diffuse color to it though.
the seamless lacing, if the setup is done correctly, is really easy to do. the last pic is where the seamline goes straight through the middle. i didnt touch the top cloth bump, so you can see the seam line there, but its all gone in the lacing
adding additional things like decals and such to a garment is really easy too. im really loving substance painter!

adjustable skirt length
adjustable puffiness on sleeve
option to turn off apron
two big problems, i want to have a lace strip on the bottom on the skirt, no idea how to attach it and let it move along with the skirt when dforce is applied. second, when applying cleavage the lace strip will break and look all weird cause its a separate mesh

so, this is basically what im doing for these partial partial morphs. its all done inside 3ds max, but you can do this pretty much in any 3d program, as long as you can setup morph targets, and apply masks to said morph targets
starting with the standard G8F base figure, then apply the morph target, apply the mask over the morph target, and done. and since its all layers you do that exact same thing for the other side of the face by stacking up layers
once thats all done its just a matter if importing the new expression back into to daz

an other big one. figured out how to do partial partial morphs, if that makes sense.
for example, if you dial up, or use an expression from the content library, depending on how its setup up, its most of the time really hard to get certain parts back to the zero expression, especially if its a custom morph, some content creators do have upper and lower morphs, but its never left or right. so what i can do now is set up partial partial morphs, for just the left or right eye. so for custom made expression this is great.
but it this goes way further then expressions, i can do this on any polygon, so i made a partial partial morph from one of my main characters and put it on an other. so saphy has monarch's boobs now. but it goes even further. cause its just polygons, i can do that on the bra too, so lift up the strap, apply dforce, and we got a floating tight strap. this is really amazing

marvelous designer version: one shoulder asym dress (g8f)

dforce only
6 base colors
holes in dress on or off
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
how to use:
the bottom of the dress isnt rigged, its dforce only. use the timeline to drape the dress. dforce tutorial for using the timeline
for reclining poses its best to use the "tightness (looser)" option, which can be found in the dforce folder

opacity maps are working too. again, not to difficult to set up in substance painter.
we can all bitch and moan about adobe and their crappy subscription thing, and i really really really hate they went that way, but they do know how to make their software easy to work with. this is by far the easiest texture software i worked with yet

ok, this is really cool and really not that hard to do!
tomorrow going to try opacity maps. apparently that works a bit different then all the other maps, and not really sure why. but if its as easy as doing these, we can do a lot of lace stuff. so i hope that works!
