I was looking through old art this morning & found this - the mouse, the bird & the sausage against the Invisible Empire! Fits in perfectly with my latest desire to do an American Fantasy, like what Tolkien & Lewis did with Western mythology, I feel like the USA needs something similar, I’m going to give it a go!

We have had a bunch of expansion boxes planned for a while but we decided to do the Battle For Brüttelburg Kickstarter first. So now, here we are, thinking about what to do next. We have THREE expansions for DUNGEON DEGENERATES: Hand of Doom in mind. We'll be working with Leigh Shephard who has been the DUNGEON DEGENERATES Würstmeister for a few years now, Alex Hagen who did loot illustrations for the Malingerers & Jaycee Fairclough doing sculpts. THIS MORNING'S LISTENING

I've decided to create a story that creates a new mythology for the USA, a fantasy world for this divided country. I am thinking of how Tolkien & Lewis wanted to create a new Western mythology, a way for people to understand themselves, this is something that the USA is lacking in this moment. It's a big task but it gave me that feeling so... I have to do it.

BILEZOGBOG

I drew this when I was teaching at MECCA in Eugene. Bilezogbug is the demon queen of the Goblins - I discovered a whole new cosmology of Goblins as I drew this. They came into being much more like termites or wasps, they feed the hive with rotting corpses of anything they can get their hands on but dead humans are best!! Rick Priestly has been a major figure in my life being one of the central architects of the early Games Workshop/Warhammer World. This blog is great for Oldhammer fans in general & deserves a peruse!

FULL SPEED & PAGAN

Growing up I viewed modern paganism as a reaction to the big religions, not having religious damage, these motivations don’t resonate with me, but if I see paganism as Earth generated culture, it resonates strongly with me. I’m starting to use this as a general concept, including politics & popular culture. It comes down to the idea of grass roots vs. the abstraction present in human dominated systems, which is weird because I like artifice!

DREAM 3

The world is sort of like San Francisco’s Sunset District. We’re (me & Katie) teaching a bunch of kids drama, we’re teaching at an art school. There is a complex subway system (not BART) & a kid gets lost, singled out by a psycho. He is based on this kid I used to teach Jonah, I should see if he’s alright. Later, the same kid has been found & gets lost again in this big art warehouse that the school we teach at is housed in. He has been killed in the rafters of this buildi...

FORTRESS CITY BRÜTTELBURG

Jaycee did a fantastic job as usual, cementing Brüttelburg as my Castle Greyskull. Even though it seems like the Battle For Brüttelburg is going to fail, all the things within it will continue on in various ways, this will find it's way into different things too. Just not in the incarnation or timeline stated in the Kickstarter!

I was in Seattle, the economy was bouncing back, there were a series of new, trendy businesses including a dentist who would give you a custom cigarette after removing your teeth & a bar/coffee house where young hip people would watch older rich people like it was a floor show. I’m stoked to be profiled by Walden Pond Books n Oakland! I grew up going to this bookstore a lot & it is definitely a stand out on what a proper bookstore should be like! I can remember going there many times after 8 pm which is the best time to go book shopping, the energy in the store is different, better!
