PERSPECTIVE

What I’m trying to do with this game & with all my art is to capture those intense feelings that still stand out for me & try to translate them to the audience & ultimately people that aren’t me.

This shift in perspective highlights the enormity of Brüttelburg & the smallness of Salt.

I’ve got the Battle for Brüttelburg on the brain, but! In my dream world I can still draw & walk like I used to! I had a dream about Halloween & pumpkins & getting kids ready for trick or treating. I’ve been having intense dreams dreams nightly since quitting weed, they’re not bad, they really seem like another life at this point.

THE DEEP MEANING

I woke up at 4 this morning filled with good thoughts of meaning & depth, including some new ideas for The Battle For Brüttelburg! My brain is a funny thing, how it seems to just run ahead or slow down (or stop working correctly in terms of the stroke!) & yet… when I take care of it & do the right thing in terms of eating right, getting sleep, reading a lot, prioritizing curiosity & just plain thinking, my brain is happy, I am happy!

DIRTY DEEDS

By fan request we decided to make the DIRTY DEEDS box for use with DUNGEON DEGENERATES: HAND OF DOOM. This box is influenced by The Battle For Brüttelburg! The central concept behind it is new Dirty Deeds Mini Missions that are smaller, non-campaign missions that you can do whenever you want or just as a short game of DUNGEON DEGENERATES.

PORK IN THE DUNGEON

One of the fun things with DUNGEON DEGENERATES: RHE BATTLE FOR BRÜTTELBURG, is I can throw in tons of references that the true heads will know - just like the Tarot, if you know the language, a whole world of meaning opens up to you!

MAKE ‘EM LAUGH

Here I am with Gilbert Gottfried on his last stand up tour before passing. The release of humor in the face of everything in the world is really crucial for life. Things are absurdly bad in the DUNGEON DEGENERATES world but humor elevates the experience & makes it not so Grim Dark but Grim Bright (I’m sure my colors add to this). I am using more humor in the Battle for Brüttelburg video game than on any project thus far, because we all need a laugh.

I found a bunch of unused, unscanned art the other day, so I’m thinking of ways to use it!

TBFB SIZZLE REEL

The kickstarter isn’t live but I’m getting videos ready, here’s the sizzle reel! I also actually remembered & didn’t have to relearn PremierePro this time! There’s usually enough of a gap between projects that I have to relearn it!

THE CHILDREN

My kids are all teenagers now & huge, they’re all taller than me! Despite the amount of work I was doing when they were little, I also managed to experience every step of the way fully, to be there in a way that most fathers that work that hard aren’t able to. I’m ready to spread some energy to the kids in the rest of the world & improve humanity!

LOST AT SEA

I found this Jack of Cups art for the Tarot Goblinko on the Goblinko Facebook page, but it didn’t make it into the book & I have no idea where the original is, the waves are cool! I remember during this period having a real intention to wow with the level of meticulouslness & then deliberately using empty space as a respite from the intense inks!

FIRST

This is the first painting I ever did with my friend Erik den Breejen at his house, I think we were 9. It shows Bill the Cat & Garfield stealing a Police Car & driving over a hippie. I think my brain still thinks this kind of stuff is funny, it’s not a serious political statement, I don’t hate hippies at all, but I do dislike people that exchange their individualism for a costume identity, they should be driven over by joyriding cartoon animals.

Here I am in 1998. age 22 caught switching prices on LPs at Rasputin Records after a day of work in the Chaosium Warehouse.
