Four Horsemen: Chapter 17 FINAL

Chapter 17:

Desari lowered herself on blueberry, an arrow hitting a nearby tree.

“I think it is about time we found that crossing.” She hissed as another arrow found a tree, glancing back, she could make out the outlines of the hunting band, they rode bears, wolves and other creatures from the forest, armed with short bows and axes.

Another group moved up along their flank, trees obscuring their aim for now.

“There should be a way to cross ahead!” Mya altered h...

Chapter 16:

Desari rose, deathly still as she stared into the forest.

Valter stored the last of his gear, scanning as he drew a crossbow.

“Enemy.”

Valter grunted in agreement and they started towards the mounts.

“How the hell do they know where we are?” Mya muttered.

Petor threw everything into this storage devices, following them over to where their mounts waited.

“They think that we’re dead, so they must be tracking something else.” View Post

“Yes, but in extreme cold they can begin to crack and unleash the power within, creating mind-altering issues,” Mya was two items along, creating piles as she went. “And that one has been exposed to cold already.

Limos picked up the item, adorning his monocole, his expression turning something absolutely monstorous.

“A finer eye as ever miss Asmani. It seems that one of my suppliers was less that scrupulous in their sale.” Limos’ smile was an ugly thing that vowed bloo...

“War, once an armorer, a blacksmith turned soldier. In a war against the Osori he was left barely hanging onto life, infected with the blood of the enemy. He recovered, consuming Osori power he was able to become stronger, turning into one of the strongest weapons of the Velledes. He went into a rage, killing his own family, he was killed by the military, but they bound his soul to his armor, used him as a warrior for several decades. Then the armor disappeared, re-appearing on another plan...

“Broken spear, a burnt piece of paper, a sword and a playing card.”

Desari touched a hairpin and Mya pulled off her hat.

“I think,” Desari frowned, withdrawing it and studying it. “When did I?”

Mya looked into her hat.

“One creepy ass chest that looks like its spent the better part of several centuries at the bottom of the ocean, got some funds and contracts, lots of contracts. A playing card of midnight black, blood red tracing and a go...

Chapter 14:

Ami’s pace slowed, a constant quick trot through the forest, the afternoon showing the glimmerings of night. Petor, like the others rode in silence, watching for creatures, gazing skyward to spot the streak of light they’d seen earlier.

“Lets take a pause here,” Valter called out.

Petor slowed to a stop, the horses shaking their heads, happy to have been let free. Petor slid off, collecting his reins as Ami nudged  him with her nose.

“Glutton...

“How did you know we were coppers?” Petor asked.

“The board on the side of the room, there were notices for adventurers, the most requests were for coppers, then silvers and golds. More copper request, means that it is the easiest to fulfil,” Desari said.

“For a holy city they sure do have a lot of defenses,” Mya’s voice echoed through the tunnel under the wall.

“Gods wage their own wars for the faithful. It is just that nations a...

The bells in the distance distracted the alchemists.

“What was that?” Carl asked.

“I’m not sure.

“Miss, what is going on?” An alchemist asked the female priest.

“The heretics have met our walls.” She said.

“But those bells sound like they’re inside the city?” Desari asked.

“The faithful will stand strong.”

“I just want to check on my family.” An alchemist asked.

Valter drank from his canteen, looking at the altar, its motifs had been cleaned away, leaving it in its silver coated glory. Runes and lines traced through it, the metal plate underneath and across the walls creating a massive runic.

Stone masons and smiths rubbed their tired eyes, the last of the silver being poured into the cut grooves in the floors.

Bells tolled in the distance.

“Clear a path!” A guard yelled. People dropped to their knees in prayer as a man of blue ...

“I’m open to suggestions?”
