Tentacle Enemy

An enemy design with a spherical protective shell that it can shoot tentacles from with great force. It uses the tentacles for climbing and grabbing its prey.

anarkhya's Custom Overworld Graphics

Artist anarkhya(https://www.deviantart.com/anarkhya) made some really nice custom detailed overworld graphics and put them in a Tiled map. I was able to mod it into ZALiA and do a run with them. Video also includes some new player character sprite-sets. Enjoy!

2.5D Scene Mock-up

Very early in development, while planning out scenes, I modified one into a 2.5D style. The up and down arrows, as well as the <-WE-> directions were part of an idea for the game to not have an overworld.

Item Sprites Work

A look at the photoshop file where ZALiA item sprites were designed. A number of these designs were based off of previous Zelda item sprites and some Kid Icarus ones as well. Although I'm proud of my sprite work, you can see I'm not that much of an artist. My process is to just try every possible pixel iteration until something looks good XD

Alternate Music Sets

I'm currently hard at work cleaning out the code getting it ready for release. While doing so, I'm beginning to build community content systems. The first being alternate music options. The system is mostly in place at this point so that I just need the music files. Then, all it takes to listen to them is to change the music set in the options menu.

ZALiA Overworld with 8x8 Tiles

This is 1/4 the image size of the normal map with an 8x8 grid instead of 16x16. Some tile graphics are custom to make sense with the size difference. Don't know why I spent so much time on this.. maybe these tile graphics can be used to fit more overworld on the in-game map.

Recent Work

Recently I've been polishing up the game and working on a few extra things. I've been streaming most of it at https://www.twitch.tv/hoverbat.
One major thing is rebinding controller buttons. As you can see in the image, casting magic is set to the left trigger button.
A couple other things I've started work on is an item randomization mode and autosplitter support for livesplit.
