[Full Album] LAGWAGON | “Trashed"

When I first heard Lagwagon's "Give It Back" recently, I was eagerly awaiting the opportunity for this episode to happen. You guys finally made it happen for Episode #6! This is the first time an album has come in second place, and then won the following month. Hell yeah!

This album is such a cool take on the "skate punk" sound I think I'm more familiar with, but kicked into overdrive with absolute genius riff-wri...

Full-Album Reaction Poll: July 2024

It's about that time, ehhhh? These choices are getting harder and harder to narrow down, and that's a great problem to have! Here are four more albums I've been wanting to explore, with Lagwagon's Trashed getting another chance after coming in second place in last month's poll.

I'm downright stoked about all the new faces around here, so I'll continue to remind everyone that I'm only considering full-album reactions that contain songs ...

Need your song suggestions - Round 2!

Folks! I made a post like this back in April with a list of bands I see requested frequently, but the song suggestions are pretty inconclusive. You guys were a massive help in narrowing down a song for many of them, and those are now all in the queue!

Here's another list of bands I'd love your song suggestions for. Please note, the plan is to do all of these bands on YouTube, so I'm wanting your best song pick for each one (if you have one!)

[Full Album] NOFX | “The War on Errorism"

Well, I FINALLY heard a full NOFX record that wasn’t a one-song EP! For Episode #5, you guys voted The War On Errorism and I went into it with a few expectations that fully delivered. Anytime I listen to NOFX, my ears go on alert waiting for the clever songwriting-goodness to fly by at any given second. I'm always refreshed hearing their polished arrangements, production, and Fat Mike's witty sentiments about the world we live in. I was t...

You can only listen to 3 bands for the rest of your life...

I'm so grateful for the membership ramping up here lately, and I'd love to get to know you all a bit better and where everyone's musical tastes lie!

Here are mine. Although I don't listen to these bands as much as I used to, I still feel comfortable being stuck with them:

Metallica
Dream Theater
Coheed & Cambria

These bands cover an extremely wide array of styles, emotions, and lyrical subject matters to where I could cycle through each of their...

[Full Album] STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO | “Somewhere in the Between”

SURPRISE! I didn’t want to chance this album losing a third time, so I called our corporate office and got an extra bonus episode approved for Episode #4! Seriously though, if someone asked you to smile for 2 hours straight, do you think you could? This album basically forced me to, but I was equally overtaken by a blank, clueless expression from sheer musical overwhelm. Every single song was a rich, cinematic experience supercharged by Pete McCul...

Full-Album Reaction Poll: June 2024

It's time to vote for next month's full-album reaction! Here are five more albums I'm pretty keen to hear!

As before, I'm always happy to bring back albums from past polls that didn't win. If you guys feel strongly about one, let me know in the comments! Based on your feedback last month, I brought back Career Suicide by A Wilhelm Scream, which lost in the March 2024 poll.

In order to keep this process a little more streamlined, I'm only considering alb...

[Full Album] DESCENDENTS | "Everything Sucks"

"Everything Sucks" by Descendents wins for Episode #3! This album was quite a challenge to analyze in ways I totally didn't expect. I didn't realize this band formed in the late 1970s and were so influential to the scene until I did additional research prior to this episode. Learning about their history (and legacy) allowed me experience this band through a much different lens than when I first heard them on YouTube. I was taken on a wild escapade full of r...

Help me pick!

Sup? Doing some planning and going through YouTube comments, and the song requests for the following bands are pretty inconclusive and all over the place.

Because you guys get priority, let me know if you have any ideas!

Type O Negative
Satanic Surfers
Frenzal Rhomb
Bad Brains
The Interrupters
Bad Religion
The Smiths
The Casualties
XTC

Full-Album Reaction Poll: May 2024

It's time to vote for next month's full-album reaction! Moving forward, I'm going to roll over the second-place winner from each poll into the next month's poll and introduce four new albums I've been wanting to explore.

In the future, I'm happy to bring back any albums from past polls that didn't win. If you guys feel strongly about one, let me know in the comments! It's the best way for me to gauge overall interest. Remember, I'm only considering ...

[Full Album] PROPAGANDHI | "Victory Lap"

Episode #2 set the bar pretty friggin' high! Oh my. Propagandhi's "Victory Lap" was such a ride. I enjoyed this journey of technical prowess that was neatly tucked under the deepest of subject matters. This band's songwriting approach is one of the most unique I've heard; I think these are "songs" just as much as they are "soundtracks" to a deeply personal diary entry. I relate to Todd's bass playing style so much, and it was incredibly inspiring to hear his work. I ...

Full-Album Reaction Poll: April 2024

Folks! It's time to vote for next month's full-album reaction episode. Once again, I'm only going to consider albums of songs I've first covered on YouTube. Ideally, I'll get to all of them eventually, so these polls will really just determine how soon they happen.

Here are (5) albums I've been wanting to explore for awhile now, so cast your vote below! I will pin this post and let it run until the end of March before I shoot the video to allow everyone a chance to vote. Stok...

Ned's Atomic Dustbin?

Friends! This band has been requested so frequently lately and it's a different song each time it seems...😅

I've never heard of them, but it's apparently a two-bassist band I should do a video on. If any of you are fans, let me know what songs you recommend! Patron picks are the best picks...

One more thing - thanks to all of you who came and hung out with me on the stream earlier this week. Don't forget, the next one is Tuesday March 12th at 6pm CST!

[Full Album] RANCID | "...And Out Come The Wolves"

My first full-album reaction, Episode #1! Rancid's "Maxwell Murder" is what kicked off my wave of punk videos on YouTube, and I've been meaning to circle back and spin the full record. Hearing an 85-second track wasn't enough to really understand Rancid, and this full-album listen quickly brought me up to speed. Get comfy, and let's do this!

Making a change! Please read:

Patrons! This Patreon page is still brand new, and I’m so grateful for those of you already here. I’ve barely promoted this thing, and your early membership really means a lot! I hope you’ve been enjoying the content, and I have a long list of plans for it in the near future.

As it grows alongside my YouTube channel, inevitably there will be some tweaks to make, and I’ve decided to make one today that will streamline things for me. I’m doing away with single-song react...

My 100th YouTube episode is coming up...

And, I wanted to go back to my roots and finally cover one of my favorite bassists of all time: Duff from Guns N' Roses! I absolutely cut my teeth on their songs, covered them in various bands growing up, and know so many of them on bass. I'm having a tough time deciding which song to break down...I was thinking "Paradise City" because it's just a master class on slowly intensifying a song, one groove at a time, but then "Sweet Child O' Mine" is pure melodic goodness throughout the whole song...

YOUR REQUESTS!

I know many of you may have song requests! I'm curious to know if you'd prefer to help drive the content I do on YouTube, or if you'd rather request songs for me to do here on Patreon (if you had to pick one or the other, hypothetically...)

What would you guys like to see here?

Hey everyone, I'm so glad you all are here! I still haven't promoted my Patreon too much just yet, but wanted to ask you guys what kind of content you'd like to see here. Please let me know below! In addition to all the educational content and Patreon-exclusive reactions, I'm open to ideas for other fun bonus stuff that doesn't really fit into those categories.

Tomorrow on YouTube, I'm hearing Mike Watt for the first time (I know, that's embarrassing), but I'm comparing...

Unboxing TWO New Basses!

I thought I'd share a fun moment with you all! I just received two new axes and wanted to open them with you guys. I'm also testing out a new "set" in my studio that's a little more "full-frame" for future play-through / gear demo content. Enjoy!

Welcome! We're just getting started!

I'm still learning the ins and outs of Patreon, but I'm hitting the ground running this week getting into a groove for 2024. While I'm already adding content from my lessons archive, I will be posting the first Patreon-Only song analysis this Friday, and it's an artist I've been wanting to do a long time: FLEETWOOD MAC! John McVie was absolutely crucial as an influence for me learning how to write melodic bass lines. Stay tuned!

Patreon-Only Reactions will be posted bi-weekly on Fridays...

I hope to bring a fun experience for everyone, even if you don't play bass (or music) at all. You can expect reaction videos th...
