What follows is a quick play report of the 2nd session of Vecna Lives! being ran out of the Prismatic Waystation discord server. Please be advised: the following contains some spoilers for the Vecna Lives adventure from 1990.
Last time all the archwizards (save one) died. The remainder of the adventure consists of their henchmen (in a gender neutral sense) investigating the mystery of their disappearance. The session began in the estate ...

What is more fun than dying? These posts (which are linked, but there is a clear delineation) are about aging, natural death, and resurrection. A lot of mechanical ideas in here, but some advice as well. Will probably post these in the coming couple months:

Okay, so here are two very different posts. One I will post either this week or the next and the other I won't post until October for reasons.
The first is a little response to a post from the Traverse Fantasy blog, musing about weapon mechanics: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1FYXgBmbE69dYPF9-f9bshlWNNM-zrxbDCifYj4S1XwU/edit?usp=sharing

Spoilers for the 1990 adventure for AD&D, Vecna Lives, ahead (specifically, its prologue). Read with caution if you want the intro to the adventure (and its shocking twist) to remain unspoiled.
I just finished running the first session of the aforementioned adventure on the Prismatic Wasteland Patreon server and am jotting down a summary of events, together with my impressions. I’d like to run monthly-ish games on the server going forward, ...

Hey folks! Continuing to chug along on all fronts. Well, not all fronts–remember the top secret project that I mentioned was in its early stages last month? That project died an untimely death. But don’t mourn for too long, that just means there are fewer targets for my twirling, twirling energies, which presumably means my other projects will get more attention. But that’s just a hypothesis.
Candy County is being outlined, written and illustrated (peep the final cove...

This month's update is somewhat jam-packed, so I will get right to the meat and potatoes!
Prismatic Wasteland
Many of you are subscribed to follow along with the rules updates for this system, and it has been on the backburner for the last few months as I focus on my more immediate projects. However, a recent development that is likely to kick it into gear (by kicking me to tinker more with its rules, or at least to playtest the rules I do have outlined in v0.4) is that I am about...

It's been a busy month--mostly in my real life, but I'm keeping the roleplaying plates spinning as well.
On Candy County, I continue to write notes in my project notebook (an essential part of my writing process, I like to have just a giant pile of potential ideas before I begin truly writing), and commissioning art from Sam and Caleb.
On Into the Oddish, I have written 15 character backgrounds (i.e., Pokemon) and their evolutions, and have gotten the ball rolling on both covers.<...

Happy New Year everyone!
I have had a nice little reprieve from work the last few days, so I have been productive both in the blogging sphere (I at least have my posts for January lined up) and in the game designing sphere (some more tweaks for Prismatic Wasteland, a bit of progress on the Vile Plume Mountain adventure–enjoy the cover as a teaser)!
2023 was a nice one for the Wasteland. Barkeep won a slew of awards. Releasing something I like is all I really wanted, industry pra...

Hey folks! I've been hard at work these past 2 months, though unfortunately it's been more IRL work than RPG work. I'm hoping that changes pretty drastically in the near future. But I thought I would share some early draft art for my upcoming mega-adventure, Candy Country.
My limited RPG stuff this month has been some work-for-hire for Kobold Press, working on a secret project with a popular boutique OSR publisher (stay tuned), and nibbling at a few blog posts.
I hope everyone is ...

Howdy folks. Another busy month in a real-life sense instead of a gaming sense, but I’ve still been getting a few things done. Still tinkering slowly on my forthcoming Pokémon game, my Candy County adventure, and a few other things. Probably my largest TTRPG investment this past month (and what used up most of my blog-writing time) was writing 2023-10-03 13:15:50 +0000 UTC

So I didn't have much time for writing this month (due to the demands of life), but I've still been doing a few things:
1. A piece about Barkeep will be published in a forthcoming issue of Wyrd Science magazine. In connection with writing it, I did a little written interview (which won't itself be published but is fodder for the article). But you, dear patron, get to read 2023-09-01 19:14:46 +0000 UTC

I want this Patreon to be sort of a behind-the-scenes of my creative process, especially now that I am starting in earnest on making my next big adventure. That will mean not only showing early drafts, but also the sketches and rough drafts of art that I commission for my future projects. There is a lot of work that goes into an RPG, and it can be fun to see a game grow the same way a player-character might grow over the course of a long campaign!
Since I am at this point best-known for...
