Finally! We're back!
I felt really rusty, as I've never taken a break this long. What surprised me was that getting reacquainted with the program wasn't the hard part. Expressing myself creatively was the awkward part.
The good news is that Sadie is helping me out, by sharing her naughty fantasies with me. She really knows how to inspire me.

I rendered page 53 of HFV6, and it looks good. I ran into a slight hiccup during post work. I use several fonts that don't come standard with photoshop. I forgot that I need to load them. I need to search my old files for them and load them into my newly downloaded photoshop. It shouldn't be too big of a deal. I wish I would have remembered when I was setting up the computer; but if that is the biggest issue I encounter, I'm OK with it.

I just ran a test render and everything worked perfectly. I even figured out which characters were causing the error messages. This week will be a full week of content. Nothing today most likely. I plan to start posting tomorrow.

Whenever you move DAZ Studio to another computer, it's always a little iffy. Some things just don't move right, and old scenes trigger a bunch of error messages. Sometimes they are broken beyond repair.
The good news is that things seem to have moved over reasonably well. Scenes are kicking out error messages, but they aren't totally broken. The Bad news is that some things are messed up. I plan to render a scene tomorrow, and see how it goes. I'm feeling pretty positive, as nothing see...

The same tech from yesterday came back today. Overnight he researched the problem even more. Today he finished rebuilding Alfred, and everything works. Tomorrow I'll start downloading programs and transferring data. Hopefully by the weekend I can start creating again.
Thanks everyone for all of your support through this.

The Tech Dell contracted with has arrived. He seems more prepared than the others. He actually read all the notes and researched the issue. He's working on it now.

Dell finally has a tech scheduled to come over tomorrow and do what the Repair Depot was supposed to but didn't.

Dell has asked for a few days and I agreed. I let them know that at this point, I've allowed them to try everything they asked. We've sent it to their experts, and that team failed totally. I explained that calling it fixed and sending it back, when it wasn't has eroded any trust I had in their expertise. At this point I want a replacement, since they have demonstrated an inability to repair it.

I got my computer back; plugged it in and . . . wait for it . . .
Dell didn't fix the problem! They just replaced the Mother Board (AGAIN!) and sent it back.
I'm on the phone with Dell now.

Once they started working on it, they finished in a day. It's scheduled to arrive home today, hopefully by noon.

Dell finally started working on it today. It only took them 9 business days to get started.

Dell has now changed their turn-around time from 8 business days to 10 business days. They're on pace to miss the new target. As of today they still have not started looking at it yet. I called in, and got another friendly person who tried to be helpful. They've moved it on to the department responsible for delayed repairs, who will contact me in 24 hours.
Take a moment to reflect on the fact that they have a department responsible for contacting people who have delayed repairs. That sp...

Dell has had it almost a week now, and they haven't even started working on it. They sent me an email Thursday notifying me that they had a large backlog of computers waiting to be prepared. I'm going to ask for an update. It's almost like the sold a large number of defective computers and now are having a problem fixing them all.

After talking with Dell, I'll be shipping my computer off to their Advanced Resolution Center. They'll be solving the CPU throttling issue and checking out the liquid cooling system.
The turn-around time is 8 days from when I ship it. The shipping materials are due to arrive by Monday.
I've been going through a ton of emotions, these past weeks. I didn't truly appreciate how important creating art and making people happy are for my mental health. I suffer from depression normally;...

Since I'm sidelined artistically, I decided to do some volunteer work for a local Veterans group. I've been wanting to help them, but I'm always so busy. I'll make my misfortune, someone's gain.

I now have a new motherboard and CPU and a functioning computer. Tomorrow I'll get the SSD upgraded and the CPU cooling. They'll also load my data back on. I'm a bit nervous about that. Everything should be fine with the data, but until I see it back, I'll be worried. We're getting closer.

Good News: Dell is sending a tech out to my house with a new Motherboard and CPU.

It looks like the problem was a ridiculously complex programing issue. My CPU is no longer throttling.
In order to save all my data, I had to have my 8TB Hard Drive removed. Alfred (yes that's his name; don't judge me) currently has the original 1TB SSD. I have an 8TB SSD arriving late next week. When it arrives, I'll get it installed and all of my data transferred over.
After that, I will have to reinstall DAZ Studio which takes almost a day. With any luck I'll be bac...

Apparently there is a known issue with my computer that results in CPU Throttling. That's what is happening. My very expensive computer is currently operating a 0.38 GHz, which is somewhere between a snail and a turtle. In this instance, slow and steady does not win the race. I've spent the last 5 - 6 hours with Dell remote tech support trying to fix it. Tomorrow or the next day we have to try one more thing. Based on what I've read and my conversation with the Geek Squad, they will fail, and...

My computer is still messed up. I worked with the Techs at DAZ Studio this week and they couldn't figure it out. Monday or Tuesday I'll be taking my computer to the shop to have them wipe everything and start over. That takes a day to get back and at least another day to get DAZ Studio set-up again.
